Ten American Girls From History

Kate Dickinson Sweetser was an American author known for writing juvenile fiction and compilations. In this book she presents ten girls from the history, who were known for their character, bravery and influence on the events from the past. Most of the women presented in this book are from the 1700’s.
The author has written this book out of two reasons. The first reason is to bring those American girls from the past to the present in order to inspire today’s girls to like deeds of courage and patriotism. The second reason is to show the young American girls that history can be interesting and sometimes even more interesting than fiction, especially if they read the biographies of the girls from the history.
In this book you will read about: Pocahontas, Dorothy Quincy, Molly Pitcher, Elizabeth Van Lew, Ida Lewis, Clara Barton, Virginia Reed, Louisa M. Alcott, Clara Morris and Anna Dickinson.
This book takes you on a journey through the past, in different periods from the past, showing you how women lived back then and what made these ten girls part of the history.
