This is my-ex-is-a-psycho fated-mates story involving werelions, werewolves, and their interactions with mostly clueless humans. For a short novel of 190 pages, it didn't seem that short which was a good sign. If alpha werelions are supposed to be egotistical as well as cavalier, then When an Alpha Purrs accurately portrays that characterization. Arik IS egotistical, especially with his wanna-be surfer dude hair that gets clipped in revenge by a insulted hairstylist. Kira (Yiddish for "bright" per my cardiologist/mentor) IS a woman who takes pride in her work and can't stand braggarts like Arik who thinks he can get whatever he wants when he wants it... like a haircut. I suppose Eve Langais had to include some kind of evil subplot to get these two together. Nothing like a knight in furry armor to come to a woman's rescue, that's for sure. Yes, this seems to be an overused template, so it's a good thing it wasn't supposed to act as a major stressor in this story, just the growing relationship between Kira and Arik. Now I've read the one-star reviews of this novel and have rolled my eyes at those who feel that Arik is hardly a good example of a decent male. SINCE WHEN, IN THIS WORLD, IS THERE A 100% PERFECT EXAMPLE OF A GUY? Come on! I guess one woman's sex-under-duress is another woman's artful seduction. Of course, Arik acts like a jerk in the beginning. That's why they call it the beginning! And since this is a very short novel, you can only do so much in terms of developing character growth. After all, a guy could say Kira assaulted him or really botched the hair job, you pick. I'm not spending any more time on this topic as this is just a fun story of minimal consequences. Personally, I would have loved to have seen more time devoted to the BIG love triangle — Arik, Kira, and Arik's MOM! (Now there's a lot of baggage there...) I wished there had been a little more world-building. I know this is a beginner tale of this universe, but I still have too many questions about how the werelions and werewolves interact, what were the major political camps, where ARE we really in terms of mapping. Geez! I, at least, wanted to know better demographics other than somewheres near the east coast. For the most part, it felt too west-coasty. This book could have read so much better had there been an editor (or a better one) reviewing it. TOO MANY grammatical errors, punctuation problems, and just plain ol' misspellings! It could had read so much better as a more professional, fun-loving novel had this been on board. Maybe Arik wouldn't have looked so juvenile, as one reviewer put it. Perhaps so. But even a few verbal read-throughs would have caught the majority of the errors made. (Remember, the brain processes audible speech differently than visual comprehension, so errors will be found. HINT! HINT!) Ratings (out of possible 5) Character building: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ World building: 🌎 🌎 Relationship building: 💓 💓 💓 Romance: 💋 💋 💋 Heat/steam: 🔥 🔥 🔥 Drama: 👀 👀 👀 Action: 🍿 🍿 Suspense: 💣 Dark: Zilch. Triggers: Psycho-ex-boyfriends/husbands alert! Anyone who would have ended up on the wrong side of Judge Judy for failure to do a good haircut. POV: Multiple (2) Ending: HEA Length: Approximately 190 pages Recommend: Yes, but I would recommend to either get it for free or at a greatly reduced price. $3.99 is too much, in my humble opinion. Thank you, Liz K, a reviewer on Amazon!

It took everything thing I had not to laugh out loud at this couple. Arik’s mother was so funny at times. The other ladies were cute.

Delightful read. Could use a little less kitty reference. Loved the pace and characters. Quirky, quick and just enough angst to keep the reader on the edge of their seat.

Touches of danger, excellent story line, and shifters so I couldn’t ask for more. What I loved the most was all the laughs and giggles made the story truly something I enjoyed.

I disliked this book so much! The guy literally did everything he wanted regardless of how she felt. The girl should’ve rejected him. The plot sucked. There wasn’t a chemistry between them, all they did was bicker. The guy was so frustrating, he kept contradicting himself! The girl kept running away from all her problems. There was many flaws with the book.

To begin with, Angela Langlais is my absolute favorite author. I have yet to read a story of hers without laughing, cheering, and falling into deep like for her characters. Not love, that’s for my husband and family only. This is another story that had me laughing until tears were rolling down my cheeks. The heroine is always sassy and independent. Who really likes to be ordered around by a man they just met? The hero, while always caveman possessive, is arrogant, proud, and patient with the woman he just has to have. He always wants her regardless of how she acts. There is always comedy along with a strong storyline that just keeps getting better. Would I recommend this book to friends? Already have and do recommend this author to anyone who loves romance, comedy, and a really good story. I know I haven’t said anything descriptive about is particularly story because you just need to read it. Along with anything else Angela Langlais has ever written. Just read and enjoy!

I love this series and others by her. She always has a way of character development that makes it easy to see why two fall in love. Opposites in some areas and common things in others makes them fit together like puzzle pieces. There is always humor and awesome chicks and guys you can’t help falling in love with too. If you like this one, check out her others. Bunny and the bear might sound silly but it is a hilarious series too! One of my all time favorite authors! Always a fun read.

Kira and Arik was a fun couple. Love the beginning. She really put him in his place. Loved it. The Pride was funny. Kira was a strong woman, but naive and annoying toward the end. Instead of her accepting the protection Arik was providing, she lied and escaped, knowing the danger was real. The ending result was what was expected, since she would not listen. Arik was fun. So arrogant. I loved his Beta. Didn't tolerate Arik's crap, but knew him so well that when the situation called for action, he was on it. I did not feel the since of fear that Gregory caused Kira to run. I understand what he did, but the author could not pull me in to believe she was in danger. I did enjoy the book and will likely move on to the next in the series.

You can never go wrong with Eve Langlais. I absolutely love the way the I have to stifle my laughter when I am reading at work. And it's a good thing I don't need to see when walking on the treadmill cause there are always tears from giggling so hard. Arik is great. He is the perfect alpha. I will definitely be reading Haydar story next.

Another fun shifter romance from Eve Langlais. I really enjoyed Arik. He's everything I picture a lion to be - proud, arrogant, sure of himself, and used to being in charge. Watch him chase after Kira was amusing and his lion was all in a fuss about finally finding his mate. The pride's reaction to this whole ordeal was amazing! I loved the "catty" aspect of the other lions and Arik's mother was a riot. Kira, I just couldn't quite warm up to. She had a great personality and I loved her independence, but she took that independence a little too far. She crossed briefly into the too stupid category when it came to her ex and that's something that can really be a downer in a story for me. The romance was sweet, there were such a great example of getting everything you never wished for and loving it. There was just enough action to really push things along, but not so much that it was overwhelming. I think Eve Langlais is going to have another winner in this series.
