Description

Teacher Kate Abbott’s fresh start in Still Harbor was the beginning of the life she and her two best friends had always imagined for themselves. Still, being a working single parent hasn't exactly improved Kate’s love life. But Kate’s preference for nachos over men quickly disappears when she meets the oh-so-sexy Matt Lane.

Until she finds out he’s a cop.

Matt is a former cop-turned-private investigator, and he knows fear when he sees it. A cop clearly spooked Kate...or hurt her. Still, something about the gorgeous professor catches his attention, and despite his “no settling down” policy, he can’t resist her. But all of the attraction in the world won’t be enough to overcome Kate’s past…

Each book in the Still Harbor series is STANDALONE:

*Falling for Her Enemy

Kate and her two best friends each adopted daughters and moved to a safe town called Still Harbor. While out with the girls, Kate meets Matt. For him the attraction is instant. For her the attraction is there but so are the many questions. Is he an abuser? Can I trust him? And so on. Somehow, someway, Matt wiggles his way into Kate's life. She even starts to trust him until one day when he asked how she knew Derek Stinson. That was the one name she never wanted to hear again. This is a fantastic, highly emotional story about life after emotional and physical abuse. There's no abuse taking place in the story except for glimpses of the past. Keep the tissues handy because there are some moments that you just can't hold back the tears. I fully understand Kate's reluctance to let Matt into her life. He's almost too good to be true. No one has ever taken her side, which is why she feels she has to fight tooth and nail for every advancement in hers and Janie's lives. Janie has Downs Syndrome, which is another reason Kate has to be extra careful who she lets into her life. I love this author's writing style and I can't wait for the next book in this fabulous series. Review copy provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
