Description

One summer night, Edward Alcott gives in to temptation and kisses Lady Julia Kenney in a dark garden. However, the passion she stirs within him is best left in the shadows as she weds his twin, the Earl of Greyling. But when tragedy strikes, to honor the vow he makes to his dying brother, Edward must pretend to be Greyling until the countess delivers her babe.

After her husband returns from a two-month sojourn, Julia finds him changed. Bolder, more daring, and more wicked—even if he does limit their encounters to kisses. With each passing day, she falls more deeply in love.

For Edward the embers of desire sparked on that long-ago night are quickly rekindled. He yearns to be her husband in truth. But if she discovers his ruse, she will despise him—and English law prevents him from marrying his brother’s widow. Yet he must dare to risk everything and reveal his secrets if he is to truly take all.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book. The topic is an odd one: twin impersonates his brother and falls for the brothers wife?! How do you reconcile that. I read it mostly out of curiosity to see how the author could get to the happy ending. And boy, am I glad that I did. I know this is a series but this is the first of them that I read. Heath’s writing is brilliant, I was very judging of Edward the first several chapters. I felt so badly for Julia, knowing the fall when the truth comes out. Heath was able to honor Julia and Albert while carving a beautiful, realistic love story for Julia and Edward. I was rooting for these two the entire time and I liked how honestly the truth played out and how they came back together without a bunch of overwrought hysterics. I loved this book and will probably read it again soon. Do yourself a favor and read it, too!

What a wonderful book with so much thought put into every chapter! I’ve read so many historical romance novels over the years and this was by far unlike all others. So many twist and turns, nothing like you would expect! What a beautiful love story the author created!! One of my favorite stories ever. ♥️♥️♥️
