Description
Relive the extraordinary Presidency of Barack Obama through White House photographer Pete Souza's behind-the-scenes images and stories in this #1 New York Times bestseller -- with a foreword from the President himself.
During Barack Obama's two terms, Pete Souza was with the President during more crucial moments than anyone else -- and he photographed them all. Souza captured nearly two million photographs of President Obama, in moments highly classified and disarmingly candid. Obama: An Intimate Portrait reproduces more than 300 of Souza's most iconic photographs with fine-art print quality in an oversize collectible format.
Together they document the most consequential hours of the Presidency -- including the historic image of President Obama and his advisors in the Situation Room during the bin Laden mission -- alongside unguarded moments with the President's family, his encounters with children, interactions with world leaders and cultural figures, and more.
Souza's photographs, with the behind-the-scenes captions and stories that accompany them, communicate the pace and power of our nation's highest office. They also reveal the spirit of the extraordinary man who became our President. We see President Obama lead our nation through monumental challenges, comfort us in calamity and loss, share in hard-won victories, and set a singular example to "be kind and be useful," as he would instruct his daughters.
This book puts you in the White House with President Obama, and is a treasured record of a landmark era in American history.
Reviews
A Chronicle of Leadership
5By Richard BakareI am not fond of hero worship. Humans are too flawed to hoist anyone up on a pedestal, only to be let down when the details come into the light. It is the light that the best photos cast on a scene that tell us a lot about the framed subjects. The photos and accompanying descriptions in this collection tell us that Obama was at the very least a leader, if not a hero.Emotional remonder
5By RufusdadThis is a difficult book to read with pictures that raise emotions. Sadly, it is a reminder what leadership can and should look like and be. It reminds us of what an incompetent, immoral racist like trump can do to demean the office of president.Visual Perfection
5By Live GeminiI bought this book first. Then I waited for Michelle Obama’s Becoming book. (Five Stars) I listened to her book then read this. Pete’s book puts the visual to several events Mrs. Obama described. I’m pretty sure I’ll revisit this book again when Former President Obama release his book. ❤️New York Times shills mediocre president

5By Ninja Monkey Noodle CheaterI think it's pretty cool.In the words of Louis Armstrong.....
5By chicago ronnieOh yah......Exquisite Photographs
5By ZzzopfgbI own the hardcover version of this book, and if it is judged strictly on the quality of the photography, it warrants a 5 star rating. More importantly, the photographs illustrate the inherent decency, dignity, and humanity of Obama, both as a man and as President of the United States. When browsing through it, I am painfully reminded of the dichotomy between President Obama’s attributes and those of the current occupant of the White House.Beautiful
5By MommymooseLovely book showing poignant moments during a Presidency that commanded respect. How times change......Liberal Diatribe
1By JR BarronBook made me nauseous!Lots of Fluff
1By E.j.TeegardenThis didn’t contain anything that wasn’t already known. Highly disappointed, AGAIN!!! This is an addendum: In all fairness, I checked my critical review of Obama’s book and my review was indeed posted. I clicked on the critical tab and only I was the only one that came up with less than perfect ratings. I dont understand why it only shows me as the only one with a less than favorable review of Obama’s book when indeed there are others, but with Trump it shows nothing but 1 star reviews from people. People are people, and we all have the right to our own beliefs - that what makes America great. I fought for this country, for your beliefs; however similar or however they may differ. The freedom of speech, expression, its how great ideas come together. So much censoring of this, and censoring that! If its not hate or hurting someone, who are we to squelch or silence one another? If we proceed with this madness, our individuality, that special thing that makes us ALL so beautifully unique, will no longer exist...Come back Obama
