Description

Head of the class...

Garrett Daniels has this whole life thing figured out.

The cocky, charismatic former high school star quarterback is an idolized football coach and "cool" teacher in the hometown where he's not just a golden boy — he's platinum. He has good friends, a great house on the lake, and the best damn sidekick a man could ask for: Snoopy, the albino beagle.

Then...Callie Carpenter comes home.

And knocks him right on his tight end zone.

Back to school...

Callie has a pretty sweet life herself...on the other side of the country. But circumstances — that she'd prefer to never speak of again — have brought her back home, helping out her parents and substitute teaching at her old high school.

Now she's facing bickering, raging hormones, constant gossip, awkward weirdness, and drama galore...and that's just the teachers.

Just like old times...

When Garrett offers to show his former high school sweetheart the secrets of his winning teacher ways, Callie jumps at the chance - and then has to stop herself from jumping him.

Good friends are all they can ever be.

Or...these teachers just might end up getting schooled — hard —by love.

3.5 Stars This book was really good and cute. I loved Garrett and I enjoyed his relationship with Callie. I just felt like there was way too much focus on the high school kids than the actual couple. I was bored in the beginning because the main focus was on their students or their jobs. It got a little better towards the end. I feel like the main building of there relationship was when they were in high school which isn’t really in the book. I feel like they didn’t really get to re-know each other as adults considering they hadn’t seen each other for 15 years. It was mainly just “it’s just like it was in high school” and didn’t really talk about them changing since then. And they both did not act like they were 34 years old. They acted like they were in their early 20s so it would always surprise me when they randomly mentioned being in their mid-thirties. It didn’t seem realistic. Overall, it was an enjoyable book.

I can’t begin to tell you how much I adored reading this book because of the two wonderfully complex characters that Emma Chase has created in Garrett and Callie. Garrett is your typical most popular high school sports athlete who everyone looks up to. He’s left high school far behind but now he’s the most popular high school teacher and football coach that all the students respect. He’s a genuinely likable guy, and a terrific teacher because it’s obvious that he really cares about his students and the community where he lives and teaches. Then one day out of the blue Garrett’s high school sweetheart, Callie, is back in town taking care of her parents who were injured in a car accident. Callie has very reluctantly taken a leave of absence from her dream job, but being back in town brings back both good and painful memories. As hard as Callie tries to ignore the strong sexual pull she feels toward Garrett, it’s obvious to them both that their chemistry is stronger than ever. And I’m not ashamed to admit that I greedily devoured their sexual encounters which are deliciously naughty and so freaking hot! Reading this book brought back so many wonderful memories of my own high school days when every experience lead to overwhelming emotional moments that made every day feel like the most important day of my young life. Emma Chase is a truly gifted storyteller whose characters truly touched my heart and had me glued to my Kindle throughout this five star read. Trust me, you don’t want to miss the experience of reading this fabulous book.

This is a book with all of the feels—first love and loss of it, undeniable attraction and heat, second chances, and the courage to give something your all. Drew is one of the best book boyfriends ever and Callie is his match. Their story will take you many places but will always keep you riveted. Warning: give yourself time to read this or you will lose sleep until you finish it!

Emma Chase has been a one click author of mine for years. I have loved everything of hers and Getting Schooled was absolutely no different. This story made me laugh, cry, swoon and fall in love. It was a perfect second chance romance. Callie is the type of woman I would want to be friends with in real life. Smart, funny, confident and sweet. She is your homecoming queen...just even nicer than you would imagine. I loved her taste in musicals and in men. I liked her and connected with her instantly. Garrett Daniels is hands down one of my all time favorite book boyfriends. I fell in love with him from the moment I heard him (yes, I listened to the audio book then read the book as well) and couldn't get enough of him. A football coach who is smart, sexy, and sweet? Sign me up. I adored how he treated Callie and how he was with his students. He had some really amazing lines in this book. The chemistry these two shared popped right off the page. That spark and love that Callie and Garrett had in high school never died out and I LOVED seeing how they reconnected. Their sexy times were hot, but there was so much more than that to them. I liked seeing them interact outside of the bedroom, seeing them grow in their relationship. The pacing of this book was so spot on. It just felt exactly right. It flowed, the dialog was witty and fun. The supporting cast of characters, from students to parents, really added to this small town vibe that totally worked for this story. I wouldn't have changed a moment of it-even though one part made me ugly cry. There are some authors that just weave magic when they tell a story. Emma Chase is one of those authors for me. I know when I pick up her books I'm going to laugh and smile and ultimately fall in love. Getting Schooled is a fantastic work from her and I absolutely highly recommend it.

❝This is … you and me … the reboot.❞ I expected to laugh, I expected to swoon, but I didn’t expect to cry! TWICE! Emma Chase never ceases to amaze me. Her storylines are solid, and her characters are brilliant! But her voice and the way she manipulates words into stories are beautiful. Garrett Daniels and Callaway Carpenter were childhood sweethearts. The star football quarterback and the homecoming queen, they were perfect together. They were the IT couple. After graduation, Callie moved to California to study theatre and Garrett stayed home to become a teacher and coach. Recognizing the difficulty in having a long distance relationship, the two broke up. Many years later, Callie is back in her childhood hometown helping to take care of her parents. Needing a job, she agrees to work as a long-term substitute for the theatre teacher. As soon as Garrett sees Callie walking into his school, he knows he’s not letting her go a second time. ❝As for what I want … I want you, Callie. For as long as you’re here, for as long as you’ll let me have you. I want all of you.❞ The sexual tension was delicious! The chemistry between these two was so hot I had fears I would spontaneously combust during their sex scenes. I loved both of these characters so much. Callie was inspiring with her independent, self-assured personality. I loved it when she questioned Garrett and his feelings for her, rather than carrying on for pages wondering how he felt! THANK YOU, Emma! With his cocksure ways and tender, kind heart, Garrett was the good – bad boy, women dream of! ❝Confident. Capable. I feel an indescribably calming sensation in the presence of such self-assurance. I always knew, if I were ever unsure or confused, it was okay–because Garrett would know what to do. I could put myself in those skilled hands, follow his lead, and it would all turn out fine.❞ A second chance romance, Getting Schooled was sexy, lighthearted fun with a sprinkle of serious, tear-jerking moments.
