Description
THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
“My favorite kind of whodunit, kept me guessing all the way through, and reminiscent of Agatha Christie at her best -- with an extra dose of acid.” -- Alex Michaelides, author of the #1 New York Times bestseller The Silent Patient
Everyone's invited...everyone's a suspect...
During the languid days of the Christmas break, a group of thirtysomething friends from Oxford meet to welcome in the New Year together, a tradition they began as students ten years ago. For this vacation, they’ve chosen an idyllic and isolated estate in the Scottish Highlands—the perfect place to get away and unwind by themselves.
The trip begins innocently enough: admiring the stunning if foreboding scenery, champagne in front of a crackling fire, and reminiscences about the past. But after a decade, the weight of secret resentments has grown too heavy for the group’s tenuous nostalgia to bear. Amid the boisterous revelry of New Year’s Eve, the cord holding them together snaps, just as a historic blizzard seals the lodge off from the outside world.
Two days later, on New Year’s Day, one of them is dead. . . and another of them did it.
Keep your friends close, the old adage says. But how close is too close?

The hunting party
1By gold2.718Complete waste of time and money. Contrived plot and simplistic writing.Brilliant!
5By AlyKathPWell written and proper twist. Great character building. You learn to love/hate the star herself just as her own friends. Giving it five stars!!Good read
4By .kdub.There are other Lucy Foley novels that are more interesting with better twists, but this was an enjoyable and quick read.Kept you going but…
3By Ps26:5While I enjoy suspense, the fact that you read 90% of the book before finding out both who died and who the murderer was annoyed me. Not to mention that the only characters who I would speak to in real life were the estate manager and the groundskeeper because all of the other “main” characters are absolutely awful awful people.Surprising twist..
4By EleBobadillaTo think Miranda was the sane one.. why do you need enemies when you got friends like these. It was ok
4By AmcrunchwrapGot interested half way through giving it a nice thrill but the end felt a little rushedGostei
5By N1928737494GosteiPredictable, Not Enough Shock Value
2By clarkdkateIt’s not that this book was bad. Pretty easy read. But nothing really spectacular about it. I felt like I was watching a cheesy sop-opera play out without a shocking plot twist that it needed.Worth it !
3By lonewolfboy92Refreshingly suspenseful. Will leave you intrigued until the last page . It’s starts off a little slow but picks halfway through. Quality read.Meh
2By hollace12This is second book of Lucy Foley’s I’ve read. I guess I hoped the second one would be better.
