Description

New York Times bestseller Brenda Novak's Evelyn Talbot series returns, with a heavily pregnant Evelyn being held hostage.

With Jasper Moore, the privileged boy who attacked her when she was only sixteen, finally caught and in prison, Dr. Evelyn Talbot, founder and head psychiatrist at Hanover House (a prison/research facility for psychopaths in remote Alaska), believes she can finally quit looking over her shoulder. She’s safe, happier than she’s ever been and expecting her first child. She’s also planning to marry Amarok, her Alaska State Trooper love interest and the town’s only police presence.

But before the wedding can take place, a psychopath from the much more recent past comes out of nowhere and kidnaps her in broad daylight. Instead of planning her wedding, Evelyn finds herself doing everything she can to survive, save her baby and devise some way to escape while Amarok races the clock to find her - before it’s too late.

  • My heart broke for Amarok!

4.5 Stars This fabulously suspenseful book is fourth in the Evelyn Talbot series and it features Evelyn and Amarok . Someone is at it again and this time it doesn’t look good for Evelyn or the baby she’s carrying. In this book we see more of Amarok and everything he’s going through trying to find Evelyn with no evidence of who took her or where she is. Help comes from the least expected place. Amarok loves her more than life itself. He’s such an amazing guy and it kills me to see him fall apart. My heart breaks for him over and over again. This is another fantastic story line in this series with some pretty awesome characters. I do wish the epilogue had been a bigger part of the book instead of five pages at the end. The subject of the epilogue deserved more recognition for all they’ve been through.
  • A breath-taking conclusion to the Evelyn Talbot series

I was intent on savoring this book, wanting it to last as long as possible since I knew it was the last one in my favorite Brenda Novak series. But, starting today, I just couldn’t wait. I raced breathlessly to the conclusion and then sighed. Amarok and Evelyn lead the readers on a ride that is breath-taking, chilling and scary at times. You will not want to miss this final book in the series. All of Novak’s books are fantastic, but this series was wonderful and made me wish that the story went on and on. I enjoyed this book. I wasn’t sure where the author was going with this series. I was afraid I would be disappointed. I was not. I like the action in the book. I enjoyed reading the different perspectives. Another good read.
