Description

Until two years ago, I was living large and my life's priorities were anchored to three things – my NBA stardom, money and celebrity.

I was also a colossal dick.

Until one night turned my world upside down and I suffered unspeakable loss. That event changed the man I was and made me a widowed-single father.

Now I'm a desperate parent trying to raise my special needs son and find him a trustworthy live-in nanny.

Grad student Brooklyn Hayes may be the one, with her single-minded focus on caring for my son and finishing her Master's degree. She's the perfect fit for our needs.

Maybe too perfect…with her bright smile, nurturing kindness and gentle touch. Caleb isn't the only one who's fallen for her.

I don't know when or how it happened, but she changed the game for me. Turning my losing streak into a winning second-half.

NBA Star Garrett was living the best life until a tragic accident took away his wife & left his son with life-changing injuries. Now a coach, he’s in desperate need of a nanny to help his special needs son. When studious & goal-oriented Brooklyn applied & was hired for a summer nanny for Garrett’s son, she had no idea she would end up falling for Garrett. She has plans to continue with school & Garrett’s priority is his son & his happiness. How will these two overcome the obstacles in their way? I love how Garrett, even through his guilt, tried his best with his son. Brooklyn was strong, opinionated & continued to stay focused on her school goals. This book is a great start to a new series!

These stories just really get me! After tragedy changes the course of his life, Garrett is now the single father of a child with special needs. Attempting to navigate his new life with a new job, taking care and learning his child’s new needs, and reeling from loss, he hires Brooklyn to help care for his son Caleb to help juggle his multiple duties. Brooklyn isn’t looking for much except a summer job as she works on her graduate degree in psychology. With experience in special needs children (her brother has Autism), she meets and clicks instantly with Caleb in recognizing and understanding his needs. As Garrett and Brooklyn continue to spend time both together and with Caleb, feelings start to form from the instant attraction and begin a relationship. When some twists occur in the storyline and the relationship is threatened multiple times, we wonder if the two will end up together while also following their career dreams. Overall, this was a great heartfelt story! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I absolutely adored this book! Garrett just slam dunked his spot as my favorite Sierra Hill hero!! He checks off all the boxes for me; tall, handsome, athletic, sweet, sexy, fun and the clincher- he’s a single dad to a special needs little boy and Caleb comes first in his life. What he is not, is looking for any kind of relationship after all he’s been through. But then in walks Brooklyn to interview for the summer nanny position for Caleb. Brooklyn is smart, beautiful, driven and 100% not looking for a man to take care of her. Ever. She is her own woman and knows where she is going and what she wants in her life. She certainly does not expect to become totally smitten by Garrett and his little boy Caleb when she agrees to take the job, but best laid plans and all that stuff. I truly loved everything about this book!

Sierra Hill always writes stories that come from her heart and her latest book left me teary-eyed, hopeful and thankful that she had given us such an awe-inspiring story. Garrett and Caleb are as close as a father and son can be which has helped Garrett’s goal to always put his son first and to do his best to care for him. He loves his coaching job and his young players are eager to learn, but sometimes his days seem too long and stressful. Even when he is working, he is thinking about Caleb and worrying about the future. The minute he saw Brooklyn, he felt a spark he thought had been diminished forever, and he didn’t know what to do about it. She was there to care for Caleb, help him with his studies, and offer him comfort and love. Brooklyn could never be part of Garrett’s life because there wasn’t any room in his heart for romance. Caleb was his top priority and Garrett would not jeopardize the health of his son by becoming romantically involved with Brooklyn. No matter how sweet and beautiful she was, he had to keep his hands to himself. Even if it drove him crazy. Brooklyn was the angel he had prayed for to help Caleb become the boy he was always meant to be, and he would always be grateful that she came into their lives.
