It is a truth that haunts every step Harry Burke takes in the city of Portland as he and his gutsy companion, Posie Pyke, hunt down the ancient Fae creature called Bellesore, who is relentlessly devouring citizens and leaving their bloody corpses behind. With the entire city, including the police department, ignorant to the threat, Harry and Posie are the only saving grace anyone has. 
             
It's a game of cat and mouse. Armed with nothing but two pistols, Harry and Posie stride boldly into the jaws of the Ire, Portland's abandoned sector, hoping their will and their bullets will be enough to destroy Bellesore once and for all. 
 
The trouble is the fight is only beginning, and Bellesore has more up her sleeve than just sharp teeth and a ravenous appetite. Will Harry and Posie walk right into her trap? Or will they succeed and save a city blind to the peril lingering on its doorstep?
