Description

A rising king. A falling queen. An unimaginable love.

Queen Cora is married to a monster. Three years she has played wife, and all she has to show for it is a marked face, an empty womb, and a bitter taste in her mouth best washed away with wine. It is a good thing she is made of something solid, because marriage is a life sentence. Or is it? The rebel prince is coming for the crown. Powers will shift, and loyalties will be tested. As Cora's future unravels, she must fight to keep hold of her position, her sanity—and most definitely her heart.

Brom is leader of the Nydoen people, a mountain rebel—and next in line to rule. His brother is self-destructing, and the time has come to replace him. He has the love of a kingdom and a clear path to the throne, but not everyone wants him to succeed. War is coming. He is going to need allies if he stands any chance against his enemy. The one they call Ice Queen might be the key. Experienced, intelligent, well-connected. Intoxicating. If he can just find a way to thaw her solid heart, she may prove to be his greatest ally yet.

This is the sixth and final book in The Companion series. If you enjoy a medieval tale with a strong heroine and plenty of action, then you will love The Rebel's Queen.

Trigger warning: This book contains violence and dark themes.

Firstly, I’m devastated that this is the final book to this series! I think I’ll give it a year and then I’ll reread/listen again, it was that good. I loved this story for the mix of romance and adventure. A great conclusion to a spectacular series. I love the setting, the characters, and the pacing of this series! I would definitely recommend.

So glad to see Cora find happiness. I loved watching her character evolve throughout the series. Having these kingdoms and families come together through these relationships was a great way to end the series!

I love this series. The characters are so fully developed that I just get scooped up into the story. Cora was a secondary character in the beginning of the series but this is full on her story. She is not a kind, tender person in the normal way, but her life has made her protect herself with a wicked tongue. Her husband is a cruel man. Then she meets his brother, he is everything her husband is not and more. Brom saves Cora in many ways. He is loyal and kind and shows Cora love and happiness. Tanya Bird weaves a story so perfectly you honestly can’t put the book down until you find out what happens next. I find myself thinking about them after I have put the book down. Can’t wait to see what she has for us next.
  • Great closure to the series

Holy smokes! The Rebel’s Queen was completely AMAZING! I have loved Cora from the very beginning when she made her appearance in The Companion Series! Cora is a feisty, headstrong, unforgiving and fierce Queen! She knows what she wants and DOES NOT take no for an answer. I am so sad that this series has come to an end but I’m so happy Cora finally found love, she deserved it so much for all that she’s been through. I can’t wait to see what Tanya gives us next!

I can’t say enough good things about Tanya Bird. If you’re not reading her than you’re seriously missing out. This is the last book in The Companion serious so I’m sad and will miss my friends but Tanya went out with a bang. Cora is not someone easy to love for most people. I loved her from the get go because I believed there was more to her story and this book shows just how much more to her there is. Brom is a worthy hero. I laughed harder at this book of the series than any other because I LOVE Cora’s wit, sarcasm, humor, and stubbornness. It is intense, funny, bold, and tastefully written. No shortage of romance but all done with such tact I don’t feel like I’m reading porn. I love how she hints at what’s happening and fades to black!! My favorite line from ANY book appears in this story and will leave you laughing out loud while others look at you crazy. READ THE SERIES! READ THIS BOOK!!

Big thanks to Tanya Bird for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. It's amazing because every time I think Tanya's books can't get any better, they do. I loved this book. Cora is the heroine we have been waiting for. She is tough, unapologetic and a warrior in her own right. This story follows her as she comes to terms with the death of her husband and the scars left behind on herself and on her kingdom. We are also introduced to the new hero, Brom (insert hot flashes here). He is a rebel and the new king of Zoelin following his brother's death. Throughout the story, Brom strives to pick up the pieces of his kingdom and his new wife, Cora. This was such a fun book to read. Cora and Brom are a refreshing power couple who will easily steal your heart. This book is action packed and fast paced. I loved the political intrigue and all the cameos of past beloved characters. I gave this book five stars because I would easily read it again and recommend it to others.
