AN UNEXPECTED QUEST. TWO WORLDS AT STAKE. ARE YOU READY?
Days after winning OASIS founder James Halliday’s contest, Wade Watts makes a discovery that changes everything.
Hidden within Halliday’s vaults, waiting for his heir to find, lies a technological advancement that will once again change the world and make the OASIS a thousand times more wondrous—and addictive—than even Wade dreamed possible.
With it comes a new riddle, and a new quest—a last Easter egg from Halliday, hinting at a mysterious prize.
And an unexpected, impossibly powerful, and dangerous new rival awaits, one who’ll kill millions to get what he wants.
Wade’s life and the future of the OASIS are again at stake, but this time the fate of humanity also hangs in the balance.
Lovingly nostalgic and wildly original as only Ernest Cline could conceive it, Ready Player Two takes us on another imaginative, fun, action-packed adventure through his beloved virtual universe, and jolts us thrillingly into the future once again.
Reviews
Good sequel…
5By Mr. NyctoThe story was solid, and relevant to what’s happening in the world.Subtly insulting…
2By RP1-RIPWhile a fun and interesting read, the writer inexplicably infuses racial and sexual content into the story which does absolutely nothing to further the plot. The author, it seems, is unable to help himself, describing every hero by their sexual inclinations and every villain by their singular skin color (guess which one?) and taking racial swipes that do absolutely nothing to enhance the story, and many times, in these instances, bring the readers imagination to a cold halt. This story was obviously written to appease a certain type of people in our culture while subtly insulting another. If you can look past these shortcomings it’s an entertaining short read.Ready Player Two review
5By topher6262I read many reviews that gave a poor outlook on this book before I downloaded and read it for myself; and, I’m glad did! I would not care to see another story made that brings together another “hunt”, since it would feel like that’s all this “world” has to offer. Maybe some other story could be made that delves into the human equation… but, I digress. This story seems very well thought out and concluded quite nicely!Great story
5By Bonebaby91I truly wasn’t sure about this sequel in the beginning. The first one was finished perfectly, but I’m glad to have stuck through. The ending to this was exactly what it should have been for a HEA. Still plenty of 80s references I didn’t know but I didn’t let that slow me down!Should have stopped at RP1
1By MusicDude70Another reviewer likened RP2 to “Caddyshack 2” and he was spot on! Ernest needs to unpublish this book. Lazy, preachy, and woke writing absolutely ruins this story. Cling to RP1 like a much loved 80s teddy bear and let the series end in beautiful mystery. RP2 is not the sequel you seek: Your princess is in another castle.Dystopian lightheartedness
4By narakkuOxymoronic but nonetheless true. It was a fun enough read and the stakes were high enough. A fun read for me.Zero stars
1By DankStewI hate this book but iBooks won’t let me delete it from making a duo with the first release in my library. This is horrible. I don’t even own this dumb book yet here we are.Awful
1By Randy 953683He ruined the entire thing with a weak story line and political lectures. Just pretend this book doesn’t exist.Big let down
2By BillrsWhat an utter disappointment. How could he go from Joust, giant Japanese robots and War Games to a love letter to Prince? In its current state, this will never be made into a movie and should never had been published. I had such high hopes for this follow up but alas…. It was not meant to be. So sad.Ready Player Two….?
4By S1monSaysI really enjoyed the first book, but this one…it seemed like reading an essay that had a max word count that repeated the same concept over and over in almost the same words, over and over, just to meet the required amount of words….it could of been greatReady Player 2
4By AJ3Good, but not quite as good as the first book. A little too wordy. All the descriptions of getting the shard from the Prince’s were way too long.Really good sequel.
5By Mech360I saw a few reviews complaining. I don’t see why. Almost everything plays fine into the story and future humanity. The nods to pop culture were so detailed I learned stuff I thought I would have known. I want this as a movie! My 9 year old Daughter permanently leaves Ready Player One in the Blu-ray.Aweful
1By Sputnick1986When I read this book, I instantly knew it had to have been written in 2020, with all the woke references. I feel people were excited for a sequel, but it wont age well, and it just reads like cheap virtue signaling to make a quick buck, and sell movie rights before people forget the first one, and the actors getting too old. Sad to see a writer ruin his own story by rushing out this hack job of a continuation.Too many social issues
2By sockmonkey18I feel like it would have been a better read without going into all of the current social issues: Racism, sexism, identity etc. Otherwise I felt the 80s theme was over the top and parts dragged in story line.Embarrassingly bad prose. Shallow character development. Unoriginal plot.
2By Trystero MontevideoThis follow-up has none of the fun and magic of the first. This is not the insightful exploration of life in the metaverse that you may have been looking for or expecting after RP1.Beautiful ending
2By cherbearstoneWell… the ending was beautiful. There was a lot of filler and honestly it just gets really redundant. I feel like the same sentences when it comes to description are on repeat. Some parts I just jumped over the details so I could get to the story line. I love the characters keeping up with them was important to me. However with the bad again the ending is very beautiful and a exciting look into the possible future…Great sequel
5By Shadow_Clone7242The year is 2022 and Iv just discovered “Ready Player 2”. The book was amazing and an amazing continuation of the first. Thank you for you’re hard work and effort in making it.How is this at 3.9
5By cooldoggie9This was definitely not as good as the first one but it should have been a bit lower than the first oneExcellence
5By Consul1887Just brilliant book by Ernest once again can’t wait for the movie and a third book to make the trilogy, it should be perfection.
