I adored "catching" up with characters from prior books of this author's Last Stand, Texas books. It was charming tale and really showed how even omitted the truth can lead to lies and hurt feelings. J.T. Williams is on his way to Last Stand to see his half-sister, who he just found out about. J.T. previously had thought of himself as an only child of country music super-star Jax Williams. Over Thanksgiving he discovers that his father previously had another child. It was this other child that saved his life when he was five with a bone marrow donation. Discovering a sister twenty years later, J.T. wants to meet her. Thirty miles outside of Last Stand, he comes across a disabled car. The driver is a heavily pregnant Zara Mitchell. Zara wants a fresh start after discovering her baby-daddy boyfriend had forgotten to mentioned that he already was married and had a family. Zara's BFF suggested her home-town as Zara isn't close to her parents and was just going to throw a dart at a map to find the place for her fresh start. Soon it is discovered that Zara's BFF and J.T.'s half-sister are one and the same, Amelia Corbyn. The web of deceit that J.T finds himself in and how close he gets with Zara was a wonderful story. With the back-drop of Christmas and the charm of small-town Last Stand as a back-drop, I truly hated for this story to end. The author does a fantastic job of weaving a tale of second chances and family with this one. I would highly recommend this story to anyone over the age of 18. There was a "sexy" scene in the last part of the story and I would not want to offend any parent of a young person with my recommendation.Wonderful holiday read with a great ending!
4By DoodlebugscmiMore romance in Last Stand, Texas! This has been another one of my favorite places to read about. Multiple authors write about the abundance of love and the amazing ambience and setting in this small, endearing town. Each book is an engaging, enjoyable read. Texas Christmas Baby is the second book in the Corbyn Sisters of Last Stand series. Zara and J.T. While this book is a stand-alone, reading some of the prior books will give you even more enjoyment. For example, Her Texas Ex, book one in the Dangerous Delaney series, is where the mention of J.T. comes from. When I first read that book, I had my suspicions that we might see a story from him one day. So glad that day came. If you have the time to read that book, you will have an even greater reading experience. Also, there is some closure for Amelia. That's all I'm going to say about that. The blurb does a great job of summing up the book. Of course, J.T. is keeping a big secret; that wasn't his original intention. But because of his growing feelings for Zara, things become complicated. Zara is already mistrusting of men due to her recent past so you can understand why she is guarded. How will she react when she learns the truth? There is Christmas galore in this tale. There are plenty of visits from my favorite Last Stand citizens. And there is the best happily-ever-after I could have asked for. For both J.T. and Zara. I enjoyed this book very much and, as usual, I am looking forward to more books from this lovely town. This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. :)christmas love story
3By BooklineandsinkerI liked Zara but I felt in some instances she talked out of the side of her mouth lots of double talk which made her kind of whiney and immature instead of the strong Independent women the author seem to be going for. J.T. he was someone I liked he faced alone in his life but always seem to put family first and at all cost would do anything for those he loved. This book does have sexual content and some strong language so may not be suitable for all. Over all this book was ok, defiantly reminds you what Christmas is really about. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
