Description

To win a Scot’s heart…

Agnes St. James has no wealth, no status, and no suitors. Thankfully, she’s happy with her family, her friends, and her beloved shop, the place to buy fine silks in Edinburgh.

Felix Duncan has a thriving legal career, connections, and ambition. What he doesn’t have, despite his father’s prodding, is a wife. Fortunately, he’s content with that.

Until their paths cross, and suddenly both realize they want more. Agnes is astonished—and thrilled—that such a charming, handsome fellow is flirting with her. Felix is astonished—and bowled over—that his friend’s younger sister has grown into such a clever beauty. It looks like Fate—until a scandalous indiscretion and a shocking inheritance threaten to spoil any chance of happily-ever-after…

A companion novella to A Scot to the Heart in the Desperately Seeking Duke series.

This is part 2.5 in Caroline Linden's Desperately Seeking Duke series. If you read part 2, A Scot to the Heart, you've already met our hero and heroine of this story, Felix and Agnes. I finished A Scot to the Heart really curious about how Felix and Agnes would work things out (and IF they would!), and I was thrilled to read this book. It stands alone as its own story, but I think works better after read A Scot to the Heart as we revisit part of that story but from Felix and Agnes' perspective. I am not sure I would’ve appreciated that as much had I not had the back story from the previous story. Novellas are not usually my favorite format, but this one really worked for me, it had a good amount of tension, but was long enough to not just wrap up too neatly at the very end.
