Description

Within the stark walls of Crowmont Hospital, every patient has a story, and every crime becomes a deeper mystery.

Psychiatric nurse Leah Smith's newest patient is Isabel Fielding, a young woman convicted as a teen for the gruesome murder of a child.

However, as Leah observes Isabel's gentle nature, she questions the girl's guilt and suspects that the real murderer might be hidden within the Fielding family. Leah isn't alone in her suspicions - renowned true crime blogger James Gorden also believes in Isabel's innocence.

As Leah grows emotionally attached to her patient, her professional stance begins to falter. She becomes obsessed with proving Isabel's innocence. But are her suspicions a product of her own dark past?

And is she prepared to put her life at risk to find out?

From the New York Times bestselling author of Silent Child, this psychological thriller series is not one to miss.

Praise for the Isabel Fielding series:

"I can't praise this book enough...it was one of the best books I've read this year!"

"Without giving too much away the characters had me fooled! Nothing is what it seems, you need to keep reading ... just one more chapter..."

"One For Sorrow is such a fabulously dark and twisted read. I knew from the opening pages it was going to be good but by heck I didn't forsee the twists and turns as they happened. It's one of those stories that you will be constantly second-guessing and jumping at conclusions only to be totally wrong."

"This dark, twisty psychological thriller was totally riveting."

  • A fast read.

This is actually my first time reading an e-book and I made a great choice. The story takes off at a fast pace and never lets up. Filled with twists and turns that aren’t forced and flow naturally into the story. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

The book is easy to digest and is only complicated to understand when the twist about leans mental health happens. I'm not a fan of the cliffhanger that didn't feel necessary but a good book none the less.

I absolutely loved One for Sorrow for so many reasons. The plot kept me guessing throughout the read. The character’s details and struggles were perfect to the storyline. I felt myself physically engaged in the book, feeling all of the emotions. I wish I could go back and reread this novel again for the first time just to live it over again. I loved this read, 5 stars isn’t enough!

This book had a lot of suspense however it was a little too every where for me. Overall, good book but I really feel like a series would make the storyline a bit redundant.

This book kept me on my toes the whole time! So many things that I had no idea was going to happen. It’s the best book I’ve read all year and I’m thrilled it’s a series!
  • The perspective, good amount of details

Honestly I loved how the perspective gets flipped but we don’t know what happened until closer to the ending. Something about this book pulled me and I absolutely love this sm! It feels enough about Leah and her life without missing out on Isabel’s motives and actions. Nicely balanced.

twists and turns from beginning to end, and as a person that ALWAYS catches the plot and sees the tropes from miles away, i didn’t catch ANYTHING. beautiful read.

Yes, I did keep reading to the very end, but it was too much violence and sociopathy for me.

The suspense is freaky. The characters were fantastic and the story was dark. This is a series, but you can enjoy reading one book to get your fix.
