Description
In the summer of 2006, Emma Price watched helplessly as her six-year-old son's red coat was fished out of the River Ouse. It was the tragic story of the year - a little boy, Aiden, wandered away from school during a terrible flood, fell into the river, and drowned.
His body was never recovered.
Ten years later, Emma has finally rediscovered the joy in life. She's married, pregnant, and in control again...
... until Aiden returns.
Too traumatized to speak, he raises endless questions and answers none. Only his body tells the story of his decade-long disappearance. The historic broken bones and injuries cast a mere glimpse into the horrors Aiden has experienced. Aiden never drowned. Aiden was taken.
As Emma attempts to reconnect with her now teenage son, she must unmask the monster who took him away from her. But who, in their tiny village, could be capable of such a crime?
It's Aiden who has the answers, but he cannot tell her the unspeakable.
This dark and disturbing psychological novel is a page-turner you will not be able to put down.

Great read
5By Fizziks323Fjnally , a book actually hard to put down.Loved it!
5By Nun ya buznssMust read! So many emotions, twists and turns. The story was captivating I enjoyed the mystery and it’s hard to keep that going for so long! Love it!Wow
5By kaykaybean13I am utterly speechless shocked to bits. My heart aches for the protagonist her son Aiden and this entire family and the harrowing devastating trauma and suffering they’ve been subjected to particularly poor Aiden. I actually had to put this down and parallel read a RomCom book because it was so incredibly immense and painful to read. I cannot wait to read book #2. Highly recommend to those who aren’t triggered by highly abusive, traumatic experiences and violent behavior and physical abuse and child sexual abuse and neglect. I know I was definitely getting affected by certain situations and just put it down for a few days and redirected myself by immersing myself into a lighter comical themed book. Then I’d be able to delve back into this book. But if you’re unable to continue and it’s affecting you immensely just close it up and be done with it.New Reader.
4By AmazingAmy😜I was supposed to only read to chapter 19, because I just joined a book club for the first time and that was the assignment. Before I knew it, I was at chapter 30 and thought I might as well finish! Was hooked from the summary as soon as I read HE RETURNED. The story almost felt drawn out, but it started to come together perfectly. I laughed at Emma’s paranoia. Lol, everyone was the culprit. This could be a great movie! On my way to the sequel!Silent Child
5By Bev teacherThis is a masterpiece. Definitely, not your average thriller. The author must have a very vivid imagination. So many levels of drama.Amazing!
5By Kkitten04I couldn’t stop reading this book! It was so detailed and the plot thickened with every page.Unnecessary Bad Language
1By cb_einsThe story was well written except for all the terrible language. None of the characters were likable, but it was a believable story.Mystery and twists

5By Mlawyer112My Review: Wow!!!!! I’m speechless!!!!! I didn’t want this one to end. This was definitely by far my favorite read of the year. I don’t know how another book is going to top this one. I was on the edge of my seat the whole entire time. With this book I had every emotion possible. At one point I even needed a box of tissues by my side. This book is not for the faint at heart. I had a hard time getting through some parts but it was worth it in the end. Oh and that ending was totally shocking. I’m lucky I didn’t have a heart attack. I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I had a clue at the beginning of the book what might have happened but it didn’t prepare me to what really happened and why. There was more to the story than what I knew. I do want to tell everyone this author wrote a sequel to this book a couple years ago along with a short story involving Aidens Story. I’m so exited to be reading those next. I’ve read this author before and have loved her books but this one made me love her even more if that’s possible. Thank you to Sarah A Denzil for writing such great books. I can’t wait to read more of them. In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
