Description

New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis returns to Sunrise Cove with a powerful, moving story about a young woman on a quest to find the truth about her father who learns the meaning of true love along the way.

Alone in the world, Tae Holmes and her mother April pretty much raised each other, but as Tae starts asking questions about the father she’s never met, April, for the first time in her life, goes silent. To make matters worse, Tae is dangerously close to broke and just manages to avoid financial meltdown when she lands a shiny new contract with an adventure company for athletes with disabilities and wounded warriors.

Her first big fundraiser event falls flat, but what starts out as a terrible, horrible, no-good night turns into something else entirely when Tae finds herself face-to-face with Riggs Copeland. She hasn’t seen the former Marine since their brief fling in high school, and while still intensely drawn to him, she likes her past burned and buried, thank you very much. Hence their friendship pact.

But when April oddly refuses to help Tae track down her father, it’s Riggs who unexpectedly comes to her aid. On a hunt to unlock the past, the two of them find themselves on a wild ride and learn a shocking truth, while also reluctantly bonding in a way neither had seen coming. Now Tae must decide whether she’s going to choose love … or walk away from her own happiness.

  • A Perfect Beach Read!

I love an enemies-to-lovers romance but Kae and Riggs are perfect for each other, even though they’re both afraid to admit it. And neither thinks they want anything longer than the few months before Riggs leaves for DC. But man, are they so very wrong—and it’s so fun watching as they try to figure it all out. Throw in a bit of family drama along with the romance and The Friendship Pact is a perfect summer beach read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Tae’s is tough as nails, her mother April was a teenager of 15 when she had Tae. The mother/ daughter basically raised each other. Disowned by her parents April had gone through plenty of tough times raising a child, but they had each other and lots of love. Now 28 years later, Tae wonders about her deceased father and her mother isn’t saying much. April is frantic that the secret she has kept will cost her Tae’s love. Riggs has come home after serving in the Marines to help his brother with their adventure company, Adrenaline HQ for the disabled. He isn’t to happy to be back home where memories of his abusive father still haunts him. At a AHQ fundraiser Riggs bumps into Tae, his 1st love that disappeared in high school. Tae is still that edgy girl, but now a beautiful women. Love the way the author intertwines the characters, so that there are several storylines going on. This is the 2nd in the series, but definitely ok as a standalone since it’s only Sunrise Cove as the common thread. #TheFriendshipPact #JillShalvis #HarperCollinsPublisher

Tae and her mother April have been a team since Tae was born when April was just a teenager and Tae raised April just as much as April raised Tae. April had always told Tae that her father had died overseas while serving in the military. The story opens on an event that Tae is running for her company and a gentleman attending the event tells Tae that he ran into her father a few years ago and Tae is sure this just can't be. Riggs is back in town after serving in the military and before taking a position in DC. Riggs and Tae have a history from high school and the run into each other on Riggs first night back in Tahoe. This is their story. You can always count on a good read from Jill Shalvis

I have a new favorite Jill Shalvis book!!!! I LOVE THE FRIENDSHIP PACT!!! I LOVE IT!!!! As soon as I opened the book, I was lost in the story. There were so many emotions riddling the pages. They made the story a magnificent escape. The storyline gave me hope that people can find happiness in life, even if they struggled growing up. The author has created so many amazing characters in the Sunrise Cove series. She makes families the center of the story and the small town an importance influence. I can't believe I am envious of the characters, but I am. In this story, characters are linked through an adventure company. Jake and his brother, Riggs own it. April is the receptionist, and her daughter, Tae, is planning the events. Riggs and Tae will get a second chance to fall in love after a one night stand in high school. But do they want it? Conflicting feelings adds a lot of drama. I loved the drama. To keep themselves safe they create a Friendship Pact. Will friendship be enough? Will friendship cause more problems. If their own emotional walls aren't enough to keep them apart; everyone wants Riggs to stay away from her. Riggs and Tae aren't the only emotional drama in The Friendship Pact. Tae's mom, April, has struggled since having Tae at age 15. Riggs brother, Jake, is still adapting to loosing his legs. And that is only the beginning. If you love lots of drama and a lovely happily ever after; The Friendship Pact will not disappoint.

Jill shalvis’s writing just keeps getting better and better. With each book of hers I read I love them more and more. And they were already great. The Friendship Pact is no exception. Tae is quite the character with an interesting dynamic with her mom, her community and her past. Riggs shares some of that past and the community. Neither grew up without hardship. Tae is so independent she doesn’t seem to need anyone. She also seems to carry bruises from her time in high school as she successfully navigates her career. The company she works with, AHQ is also a dynamic part of this story. I loved all the characters and found I could not put this book down. Five stars for Jill Shalvis’s The Friendship Pact.
