Description

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Agents Savich and Sherlock are back in the latest installment in Catherine Coulter’s #1 New York Times bestselling FBI Thriller series, and this time both are enlisted to help women with traumatic pasts who are in mortal danger.

When she was twelve years old, Kirra Mandarian’s parents were murdered and she barely escaped with her life. Fourteen years later Kirra is a commonwealth attorney back home in Porte Franklin, Virginia, and her goal is to find out who killed her parents and why. She assumes the identity of E.N.—Eliot Ness—and gathers proof to bring down the man she believes was behind her parents’ deaths. She quickly learns that big-time criminals are very dangerous indeed and realizes she needs Dillon Savich’s help. Savich brings in Special Agent Griffin Hammersmith to work with Lieutenant Jeter Thorpe, the young detective who’d saved Kirra years before.

Emma Hunt, a piano prodigy and the granddaughter of powerful crime boss Mason Lord, was only six years old when she was abducted. Then, she was saved by her adoptive father, San Francisco federal judge Ramsey Hunt. Now a twelve-year-old with a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, she narrowly saves herself from a would-be kidnapper at Davies Hall in San Francisco. Worried for her safety, Emma’s entire family joins her for her next performance, at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.. Sherlock and officers from METRO are assigned to protect her, but things don’t turn out as planned…

What is going on with the epidemic of grammatical and spelling errors? Have our educational institutions degraded to the extent that we have generations of “professionals” who can’t employ proper grammar or spelling? Where are the editors and proofreaders? It is not just this book. I am seeing this in almost every book I have read for the past several years & it is getting more frequent throughout the books rather than better.

Savich and Sherlock novels to date, and Kirra is a great new character, I hope.

This was definitely not the best book in the series. I have a hard time believing it was actually written by Catherine. Maybe she came up with the plot and outline and others filled it in…that seems to be the only logical explanation for some of the errors. Another review mentioned all the typos and grammatical errors but it went beyond that. There were characters whose names changed from one chapter to the next. How do you explain that and not catch it in the editing process? Errors aside, it just was not a great story and a disappointment for someone who loves this series.
  • Another great novel!

I really enjoy Catherine’s ability to build two stories into her books. I get so interested I forget that I might need to get some sleep! Great job!

Sometimes you buy a book and say to yourself, “Well, that was a waste of money.” With this book, I said to myself, “I wasted my time and my money.” This book was written for a teenage girl. The entire premise is absurd, the plot is so lame, the characters are trite, there are typos, grammatical errors, I could go on and on. If I had known it was a silly teenager book I would never have bought it. Don’t waste your time and money.
