Description
A reluctant earl matches wits with an illegitimate heiress in the first novel of the Legacy Trilogy by #1 New York Times bestselling author Catherine Coulter.
Marcus Wynham is passionate, quick to rage, and just as quick to laughter. He’s tough, opinionated, domineering, and known as the devil’s own son. Josephina Cochrain is serene and aloof, wearing her nickname—“the Duchess”—as proudly as if she were truly born for the title. Always in control, her smiles are as rare as bawdy jests in the pulpit. She is self-reliant once she realizes that a very special talent can make her so, a talent that will take everyone by surprise....
Marcus never asked to become the Earl of Chase. The Duchess never asked to inherit her father’s fortune. And neither of them asked for their fates to become so inextricably intertwined....

Oh my word this was painful…
1By oo4chelleI bought his book because it was on sale. Surely, it could be worth $1.99, right? No, not at all! The prologue was the only “good” part of the book. The rest of it was painful. The secondary characters were much more interesting and intelligent than the main characters. The H was an emotionally abusive jerk. The h was spineless until she became a happy violent abuser. What the heck??? I just gave up after that. The plot was ridiculous. More people kept getting introduced with the attempt, I suppose, to create interest and “more mystery”? Maybe? It was awful. Honestly, I have tried to read this author’s work before and just found it lacking and boring. I don’t know why I thought this book would be better. Lesson learned.
