Description
From NYT bestselling author Brent Weeks comes the first novel in his breakout fantasy trilogy in which a young boy trains under the city's most legendary and feared assassin, Durzo Blint.
For Durzo Blint, assassination is an art -- and he is the city's most accomplished artist.
For Azoth, survival is precarious. Something you never take for granted. As a guild rat, he's grown up in the slums, and learned to judge people quickly -- and to take risks. Risks like apprenticing himself to Durzo Blint.
But to be accepted, Azoth must turn his back on his old life and embrace a new identity and name. As Kylar Stern, he must learn to navigate the assassins' world of dangerous politics and strange magics -- and cultivate a flair for death.

1By Savage44I gave up about halfway through this paper-thin plot revolving around lifeless characters. I will not invest my time or money in another Weeks novel. The book that started it all
5By HannahboneI read this book in 2011 and was instantly hooked on Brent's style and the worlds he created. I'm a fan girl for life. Even if he makes his fans temporarily homicidal.Couldn't blink!
5By wildchild2644I feel like I've been searching for this book my whole life! Incredible story written by a pure genius. Complex yet easy to follow.Excellent
5By XjxjseA very well done fantasy that grabs your attention early and keeps it. Full of very likable yet very flawed characters. Terrific action.Enjoyable but could use some polishing.
3By Jamesford31This book is definitely an enjoyable read. However, it could use some polishing. It was as if Brent Week's editor grew tired of editing his work, and skimmed through the rest of it without bothering to correct some issues. I hope this review doesn't scare anyone from reading this book though! The plot and the characters were very interesting!Favorite series ever!
5By Basque_chickI found the first book in a bookstore, then I had to have the others. I re-read them over and over and even got my boyfriend hooked on them. Took them to Europe with me for any down time too. Definitely recommend reading!A Dark Marvel
5By Lyn ForesterThe Way of the Shadow is a superbly written novel, delving into the dredges of what it means to be human, to walk away from life or to accept and fight for what is right and what should not be allowed. The characters introduced are not inherently good, nor are their reasons morally right, but there is enough in their character that shows that in life there is a line, and when it cannot be crossed, the decision made will define who the character can be and whether redemption is possible. There are many crucibles in life for these characters and the following books will surely drive them to the breaking point. Some will come out alive and some will be broken beyond recognition. Brent Weeks is a master at character and world building. The history and characters are fully realized and beautifully described, making it easy to be drawn in and lost in The Way of the Shadows. **Originally posted on goodreadsBest book ever

5By WarcatGBrowsing bookstore and had not read a fantasy in 20 years. Read the back cover and was hooked. Just finished reading this and one of the most gripping and action packed page turners I've had in a long time. Characters you can dislike, love and enemies you wish you were Kylar to put them away! Loved it and have bought the other 2 in the series on iBooks. Could not put this one down! You won't be disappointed at all. Renewed my interest in fantasy, majic and sword play and this is more than I expected!Very great series
5By SmoakeaterI thoroughly enjoyed the entire trilogy. Hard to put down, really. This is one of those rare "look up and it's 4am" stories. Not true high fantasy like Tolkien or Martin, more fast paced, good down and dirty fantasy. Reading this trilogy made me want to dig out and re-read the Belgariad or maybe the Black Company series. Worth the money, for sure!Fast paced
5By New author on the blockLoved this book. It was a very fast paced book, with fantastic characters. Great plot twists through out the book. Just like Robin Hobb, Brent Weeks is one of the best authors you've never heard of.Brilliant

5By HWSheltonI have read the Night Angel Trilogy several times and it never fails to leave me amazed. I am a very picky reader and I will not waste my time on books that don't catch my attention from beginning to end. I will definitely be buying any other books by this amazing author!
