Description
Joe Pike and his partner Elvis Cole must solve the murder of an old friend and his entire family in this gripping thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Robert Crais.
When Frank Meyer and his family are executed during a home invasion, the police begin investigating the secret life they're sure Meyer had. Joe Pike's on a hunt of his own: to clear his friend's name, and to punish the people who murdered him. What starts out as a simple trail gets twisted fast by old grudges, double crosses, blood vengeance, and a crime so terrible even Pike and his partner Elvis Cole have no way to measure it.

I miss the banter
4By Auggie's ManI miss more of the banter between Joe and Elvis in this book, but the plot was fantastic and that helped. It’s great to see Pike develop as a human being.Pike
4By Cinq CepagesPike should stay on the sidelines. He should not be the main character. His charecter has been destroyed with this book.Good title
4By stuffygalI like the Joe Pike character and his buddy Elvis Cole and this is a pretty typical “Pike-Cole” tale. An entertaining read with a couple of twists. I liked the inclusion of the baby to show Pike’s more humane, softie side.Always a page turner
4By Lauri from ClevelandGreat read, twist and turns and flow till the end...The First Rule
5By BoysmumasBoysmumas Terrific read. Loved the ending, though quite sad. I know it probably wouldn't have worked out, but I wanted Pike to keep Peter. They belonged together.Robert Crais is AWESOME!
5By DejablueI absolutely, positively loved reading this book! It had been awhile since I've read a Crais novel, but I am so glad I picked this one up. It was a pretty quick read. Action packed and full of twists. Joe Pike is one of the coolest characters ever (and Elvis Cole ain't too bad either. LOL). I have already downloaded the next Joe Pike novel, so you know I'm ready for some more excitement. :) Great job, Mr. Crais! The First Rule
