Darkness, Take My Hand

Description
Master of new noir Dennis Lehane magnificently evokes the dignity and savagery of working-class Boston in Darkness, Take My Hand, a terrifying tale of redemption.
In this gripping psychological thriller, Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro’s latest client is a prominent Boston psychiatrist, running scared from a vengeful Irish mob. The private investigators know about cold-blooded retribution. Born and bred on the mean streets of blue-collar Dorchester, they’ve seen the darkness that lives in the hearts of the unfortunate.
But an evil for which even they are unprepared is about to strike, as secrets that have long lain dormant erupt, setting off a hunt for a serial killer that will stain everything — including the truth.
With razor-sharp dialogue and penetrating prose, Darkness, Take My Hand is another superior entry in his acclaimed private investigator series from the author of Mystic River; Gone, Baby, Gone; and Shutter Island.
Reviews
So morbid.
3By Lou VestWell written. Brilliantly plotted. But so very morbid.Great
5By Scott_A_Miller5 Stars. Wow! That was really fantastic. It’s been at least ten years since I read the first and I have no idea what took me so long to get to the second Kenzie and Genero book. Lehane was masterful here. He created pure evil and really stressed the good guys more than I’ve seen in a book, maybe ever. In need to put this series in a much more frequent rotation.Completed
5By AtomicCouga re-read today. This one was better than remembered. Gonna read the others this Spring.Another Lehane hit
5By FanoftheKingsLehane delivers a taut, chilling thriller full of nasty characters, a brooding hero and snappy sarcasm.Great book bad editing
5By Timzo670000One of my all time favorite novels but the editing made this version a tough read. Quotation marks are used in more than just conversations. Can get confusing if you don’t already know the story well. Rush job on the proof readNeed better ending
3By SdfrdeghfrjedGood story, but no real answers as to why the two biggest culprits did what they did. Story would’ve been much better with answers given at the end!Book is awesome, ebook editing not so much
3By MichelleMTXI love Lehane's tight plotting, interesting characters so much, I'll overlook the superman jumps of intuition that seem to resolve his Kenzie/Gennaro stories... This is the cruelest of the five I've read, with the highest stakes. My main gripe about the ebook is that the editors seem to have allowed a bug that replaces --ence word ending with Renee. RefeRenee for example. I've noticed it three times in 2/3 of the book; ought to have been noticed/fixed prior to release.Outstanding!
5By Purl2togLoved, loved loved this book! Read this on recommendation from my son, who is an avid reader of all types of literature. I couldn't put it down. As soon as I was done I downloaded another by Lehane. I am hooked
