Description
There are stories no one knows. Hidden stories. I love those stories. And since I work in the National Archives, I find those stories for a living.
Beecher White, a young archivist, spends his days working with the most important documents of the U.S. government. He has always been the keeper of other people's stories, never a part of the story himself...
Until now.
When Clementine Kaye, Beecher's first childhood crush, shows up at the National Archives asking for his help tracking down her long-lost father, Beecher tries to impress her by showing her the secret vault where the President of the United States privately reviews classified documents. After they accidentally happen upon a priceless artifact - a 200 hundred-year-old dictionary that once belonged to George Washington, hidden underneath a desk chair, Beecher and Clementine find themselves suddenly entangled in a web of deception, conspiracy, and murder.
Soon a man is dead, and Beecher is on the run as he races to learn the truth behind this mysterious national treasure. His search will lead him to discover a coded and ingenious puzzle that conceals a disturbing secret from the founding of our nation. It is a secret, Beecher soon discovers, that some believe is worth killing for.
Gripping, fast-paced, and filled with the fascinating historical detail for which he is famous, The Inner Circle is a thrilling novel that once again proves Brad Meltzer as a brilliant author writing at the height of his craft.
Reviews
As cheesy as they come
1By Jedi Ant ManThis novel could have been about 20 pages long...how i wish it was!!, a shallow, unbelievable story...very disappointing and very very cheesy!Great book
5By James RappFor those who are so critical of this book...I'm not sure what they were reading. The book was suspenseful and insightful to some of the happenings in the Archives and the White House. And for them thinking the book left them hanging, well duh, there are two more books to follow. How could they have missed that? Anyway a 5 star read, and highly recommended.Inner Circle
5By World Traveler 57Help my interest to the endSuspenseful intrigue
5By RMarkKA hidden battle by unseen forces to control our government that has been waging for 200 years. How do you protect us. Great read. Not bad
4By Keith5529I'm a big fan of dan brown style. This book seems slower, but that leaves more time for the reader to think. A good story, okay characters, and lots of mystery. The Inner Circle
5By TimnollVery few novels can keep me entertained. Every Brad Meltzer novel I read keeps me wanting more. This one is no exception!Couldn't put it down
5By DaboDogUpon finding out about brad Meltzer and his style of history/mystery I knew I had to read his books. "The Inner Circle" was the first and I couldn't put it down. I am not typically a novel reader but love history and mystery so I began this book hoping it would draw me in and boy did it ever. I now have all of Meltzer's books and can't wait to read them all, beginning with "The Fifth Assassin". I highly recommend this book if you love history, mystery or just a well written "can't put it down" kind of book.Loved it
