4By admiral percI read any space opera / military science fiction I can get my hands on, and the Lost Fleet series doesn't disappoint. In my opinion Jack Campbell is not in the same league as David Weber or Steve White when it comes to writing about epic space battles between fleets of warships, but he nevertheless has created an interesting, unique and plausible universe and storyline. Lots of cool naval weaponry and futuristic technology. Definitely recommend to fans of the genre.Worthy and satisfying ending.
4By GausleyThe conclusion of the original six-book arc of Jack Campbell's "Lost Fleet" series ties up the main ends in a satisfying way. Another plus is that the overall quality of the books has continued to grow. The space battles, which are the main driving force of the series, are kept interesting by constantly changing strategies and tactics, and situations. Not only does this one tie up the war with the Syndics, but also opens the way for the follow-up series, "Beyond the Frontier". One small caveat I had was the ease with which the other captains accepted the existence of the alien threat and jumped right on board, but then again another protracted political drama wouldn't have been welcomed at that point, either. Overall a satisfying read, especially the resolution of the relationship at the end. If you've read his far, then you shouldn't be disappointed.Fantastic!
5By HoseDraggerWhat a great series! A little long sometimes in telling of all the different maneuvers, but an excellent storyline.Solid plot
5By SkharzSolid plot to the end... no hokey or contrived solutions to loose plot threads; everything gets tied up in a nice logical bow with a very satisfying ending. I have re-read the whole series three times now, and am jones'ing for more.A great space opera
5By Rossy_65Well the first book of the series got me hooked, but I felt something was missing. However, I had to read them all... Nicely done. In the end, the series comes to a grand finale. I find myself in the shower coming up with space battle tactic questions for Admiral Geary over lunch/coffee. The big one is do ships ever exit jump space onto a physical object, or is there a region around a jump point that is avoided due to this risk... Compelling tale, the universe is a bit sparse...we spend most of our time in the bridge or in the captains cabin, but the narrative is fantastic nonetheless. I'm hooked...read them like candy. THANKS for some awesome science fiction.Wonderful Escape with Benefits
5By Foreign ServiceAs a retired Marine Officer, I thoroughly enjoyed the leadership lessons provided in this futuristic tactical setting. I found it difficult to put the book down. I would recommend this book to young officers and NCOs in all the services as an interesting way to tackle some difficult leadership challenges that are common in any military unit of any size.Good ending
4By BrendanjerwinA fitting and satisfying end for the series.Favorite Space Story
5By Some-Guy-123This series is my favorite space story. This last book of the series is a full book. Wonderfull end to the long war with the Syndics and the result of Geary's and Desjani's love is good as expected. The lost fleet: victorious
5By Rainyday ScoutI loved this whole series. If you like the concept of a larger than life, smart and honorable leader taking a fleet of ships to their home system through enemy territories against unbelievable odds by using creative and unexpected fighting strategies, then this series is for you. Just beware that volume four Valiant still has a corrupted file on download and is not yet readable in this form. I just bypassed and went ahead reading to the series end. That worked okay. I hope there will be more sequels to this series. The author seems to have no end of creative ideas.Great stuff!
5By iBabaDudeBut too short. Keep em' coming.Outstanding
5By olu-bosI'm saddened that this series has come to an end. Truly enjoyable space opera, with some of the most intense battle scenes. The characters were extremely well done and I hope to find them again in a sequel series. If you like great characters, an excellent storyline, and realistic space battles, then this is your series. Mr. Campbell....well done!Better than the last couple of books
3By whatever_whateverIf your read the previous books in this series then you probably know how tedious they got. This is a big improvement. But some big questions were left unanswered - likely a setup for a new series. The Lost Fleet: Victorius
5By DyscrasiaClassic military science fiction, read the whole series on an iPhone Kindle app and enjoyed it. A struggle of good vs evil, nobility of character vs craven villains, against a background of researched naval future tech.
