Description
#1 New York Times bestselling author of Mississippi Blood and The Bone Tree keeps the secrets of the South alive in this “powerful…heartfelt…entirely gripping” (The Washington Post) novel of infatuation, murder, and sexual intrigue set in his hometown of Natchez, Mississippi.
When the nude body of a beautiful young female student is found near the Mississippi River, the entire community is shocked—but no one more than Penn Cage, who discovers that his best friend, Drew Elliott, was entangled in a passionate relationship with the girl and may be accused of her murder. On the surface, Kate Townsend seems the most unlikely murder victim imaginable. A star student and athlete, she’d been accepted to Harvard and carried the hope and pride of the town on her shoulders. But like her school and her town, Kate also had a secret life—one about which her adult lover knew little. Penn will do all he can to exonerate Drew, but in a town where the gaze of a landmark cemetery statue—the Turning Angel—never looks away, Penn finds himself caught on the jagged edge of blackmail, betrayal, and deadly violence.
By the time Penn arrives at the shattering truth, this quiet Southern town will never be the same and “Turning Angel will have you wondering where Greg Iles has been all your life” (USA TODAY).

2By JMKelsoThis book reads like an apology for middle aged men sleeping with teenagers. “But she was hyper sexual. She was witty beyond her years. She wanted it. I saw photos of them screwing and it looked like real love.” WTH.Turning Angel

5By Wet againNatchez Mississippi, a town that has had a past with highs and lows over the years dating back before the Civil War is now rocked to its knees with the murder of Kate Townsend, the senior class valedictorian and the lover of Drew Elliot a pillar of the community, a highly respected doctor and Penn Cages oldest and dearest childhood friends. Drew is being charged for her murder. What ensues is a twisted tale of intrigue, betrayal and civic responsibility. An excellent read!!! Enjoyed immensely !! 5By Papa BlueI very much enjoyed this book. The city of Natchez, murder, drugs, friendship, and sex, are woven into a compelling story.Turning Angel
4By VLChaA very riveting story. Twist and turns that kept interest at the max. However, while graphic sexual events are titillating and "enjoyed" by many, they really don't add much to the story, other than take up room I guess. I've read many books by authors like Zane Grey, Clive Cussler and others, who are as riveting. They have no need to be graphic sexually. Yet they get the sense across. And, I'm not a prude. It just seems to me stories can be told without being crude. Thanks for the opportunity to comment.Great book
5By WetzzzI really enjoyed this book. I didn't want to put it down. I looked forward to being able to pick it up again. Worth the read for sure.Loved It
5By MattPopeThis was a page turner absolutely loved it and had it finished in 5 days!Good story line
4By Southern FlowerAs for me, I could have done without all the sexual imagery. I ask myself, was it absolutely necessary to the story? I don't have that answer. This was the first book I've read by this author. If the next one is as sexually charged, it will probably be my last one. Pity.Outstanding
5By J DavidThis is my second read of this book and it remained a page turner. The story is fiction; however the storyline is ageless. Keep them coming Greg and please don't add another author to your books, as they tend to dilute the literature as some authors have done. I appreciate the purity of your work.Turning Angel
5By GoodOmansA visiting Yankee to Natchez, MS...this book brought me back to a fun week I spent enjoying the warmth of the south overlooking The amazing vistas of the Mississippi. I was directly across from the turning angel and only wish I had read this while I was there to view it closer ! I couldn't put this book down and am anxious to find the rest of Greg's books! An outstanding read, well written and one I would recommend to anyone! Thank you " Shreveport Ben" , for recommending it to me ! Oh, that " warmth " of Natchez not only refers to the weather, but to the kindness, spirit and enjoyment from the people of Natchez.Turning Angel
5By SixofsixAnother fast paced thrill ride by Iles! I couldn't put it down. Having just finished The Devils Punchbowl, I immediately downloaded Turning Angel because....hey! ...who needs sleep? LDTurning angel
