Description

Dark forces are at work at the House of Night and fledgling vampyre Zoey Redbird's adventures at the school take a mysterious turn. Those who appear to be friends are turning out to be enemies. And oddly enough, sworn enemies are also turning into friends. So begins the gripping third installment of this "highly addictive series" (Romantic Times), in which Zoey's mettle will be tested like never before. Her best friend, Stevie Rae, is undead and struggling to maintain a grip on her humanity. Zoey doesn't have a clue how to help her, but she does know that anything she and Stevie Rae discover must be kept secret from everyone else at the House of Night, where trust has become a rare commodity. Speaking of rare: Zoey finds herself in the very unexpected and rare position of having three boyfriends. Mix a little bloodlust into the equation and the situation has the potential to spell social disaster. Just when it seems things couldn't get any tougher, vampyres start turning up dead. Really dead. It looks like the People of Faith, and Zoey's horrid step-father in particular, are tired of living side-by-side with vampyres. But, as Zoey and her friends so often find out, how things appear rarely reflects the truth…

Chosen is the third in the House of Night series by P. C. Cast and Kristin Cast.

I read these books in middle school and back then I really loved them. I decided to start the series again in order to read the newest book that came out and I can’t even finish series because the racism and lack of care for native American culture is extremely disturbing. I can’t believe this author would write a scene where the main character and protagonist kills to “stereotypically dressed black men “and doesn’t even blink twice. The way this author handles the characters of color and the gay characters can be summed up as stereo typical insensitive and rude. I won’t be continuing my reread this series.

You have to pay for the next book, the books are extremely short and she leaves each book with the cliffhanger, you'll want to buy the next book. I stopped with the fifth one. Three books should have been one book. I would keep paying for longer books. Tends to get expensive as series goes on.

  • A New Low in Editing and writing

I have never seen such a lack of editing. Missing words and wrong words abound in these novels. Sentence and paragraph repetition becomes almost nauseous. The story line is so obvious, it makes you cringe. I just hope the monkeys they had working at the typewriters were fed better stuff than the readers were.

Book follows the storyline but it starts out giving a description of its main characters. This is book three of the series so, in my opinion, there's no need for descriptions - that's what book one was all about. The interesting, meaty, part comes toward the end as things start to unravel around Z.

I love the series but as I read each book so much repeating is done to explain what has happened it becomes boring. I find the same thing being said over and over again. Considering the price of the books it shortens the story considerably and lessons the value of the book in my opinion. Sometimes I tire of Z whining continually through out the book. It is obvious she screws up all the time without her repeating over and over that she did. A little over kill I think. I think it is a great story but at $9 and $10 a book finding out is going to cost over $60.????????
