Description

An Apple Books Classic edition.

Phileas Fogg is a sensible, well-off man who uncharacteristically accepts a huge bet that he can’t travel around the world in 80 days. Along with his valet Passepartout, Fogg sets about to do the impossible via boats, trains, and even an elephant.

Since its publication in 1872, Around the World remains one of the most famous adventure stories out there. Jules Verne has a gift for weaving entire worlds with words, and in Fogg he’s crated a hero for anyone who’s ever dreamed of leaving their humdrum life behind.

I don't quite feel enlightened, but I enjoyed this book thoroughly. It reads fast, somehow like a movie.

I have a strong love for Verne. However I haven’t read this book 📖 until 3 days ago when I started. I quickly became in love with it and found it hard to stop reading!! Truly a great author ✍🏽

Verne is one of my favorite authors, and I love around the world in 80 days, but please note this is an abridged version, so unless you want simpler words, there are unabridged copies on here.

The text has been modified from the original. Interesting words have been replaced with dullards.

What an adventure. This was a serial set around the world. How great each chapter ended, how incredible each turn, how surprising the ending. I recommend this and dutifully say it's the greatest Jules Verne ever written. I'm just amazed it took me this long to read.

The ending is surprising, and the moral is one of happiness. Just like my friend said- "Whoever said that money couldn't buy you happiness didn't know where to shop." -Mollie Wagnon. O.K, she actually said they didn't know they could buy donuts, but close enough. Obviously, Phileas Fogg knew that by buying tickets and all of that stuff would eventually end up in happiness. O.K, this is a really long review, Ima stop now.

  • Beware of Junior Edition

I wanted to download a wonderful classic from the public domain, but opened it to discover the words "junior edition". This implies that the book is abridged rather than the complete original text. Might be good for younger readers, but as an adult, I will keep looking for another version that isn't censored.

This is a classic I'd not read. I'm so glad I did. It's an excellent story and very well written. I was rooting for Phileas Fogg with the turn of each page!
