Description

Folksy and fresh, endearing and affecting, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe is a now-classic novel about two women: Evelyn, who’s in the sad slump of middle age, and gray-headed Mrs. Threadgoode, who’s telling her life story. Her tale includes two more women—the irrepressibly daredevilish tomboy Idgie and her friend Ruth—who back in the thirties ran a little place in Whistle Stop, Alabama, offering good coffee, southern barbecue, and all kinds of love and laughter—even an occasional murder. And as the past unfolds, the present will never be quite the same again.

So we’ll written it’s hard to put down. If you never knew what real people and small town southern America was like from the 30’s to the 80’s, this is a must read. A treasure.

This book is one of the best I've read in a very long time. It brought to life people and places like old friends you've not seen in a long time.

What beautiful storytelling. Heartwarming story of unconditional love, friendship, acceptance and the best tall-tales ever. I saw the movie recently and decided I wanted to read the book, even though the book and movie have been around for a long time. I have to say they were both worth the wait for me. The book, infinitely better than the movie, although I loved the movie too.
