Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World
By Haruki Murakami
- Release Date: 1993-03-02
- Genre: Literary Fiction
Description
Hyperkinetic and relentlessly inventive, Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World is Haruki Murakami’s deep dive into the very nature of consciousness.
Across two parallel narratives, Murakami draws readers into a mind-bending universe in which Lauren Bacall, Bob Dylan, a split-brained data processor, a deranged scientist, his shockingly undemure granddaughter, and various thugs, librarians, and subterranean monsters collide to dazzling effect. What emerges is a novel that is at once hilariously funny and a deeply serious meditation on the nature and uses of the mind.

5By VWongNYThis is my 1st venturing into murakami and I still can't believe I'm so lucky. This book is simply so real and unreal, and timeless. There are so many deeper ideas beneath what is an exciting and fun journey.Amazing
5By AmyhemingMurakami is an amazing author and this is one of my favorites from him. His ability to blend relatable human emotion and vulnerability with surreal backgrounds is pure genius. My friend recommended Wind Up Bird Chronicles to me and I loved it. I devoured Murakami's whole library within 3 months. Highly recommended.....not enough superlatives to describe......
