Disappointing
2By starmanjbWhile I've read every Pern book by Anne multiple times, this book is a big disappointment. No preface means you have no idea what's going on if you haven't read the previous book. It's not a flowing story line but jerks you around until you don't know what's going on. If you loved the Pern series, reread the original works again. I wouldn't recommend this just to satisfy the need for a new Pern story.Sky Dragons
2By L. IdellI had high hopes for this book. I have loved Anne McCaffrey's writing, and the stories of Pern, for years. Bringing Todd on board to co-write was excellent. I have not been disappointed. At least not until now. This book reads as though there should have been a book between Dragon Time and this one. So there are huge gaps in the story line that don't make since. Add to that the feling that I am reading a draft of a potentially really good story line that has not really been fleshed out. I am disappointed. Did the wrong manuscript get to the publisher? Please Todd, don't quit writing, but give us complete stories.Not the greatest.
4By John FrostedI didn't know till I read this book that Ann had passed on. She's the one who really got me hooked on episodic volumes. Yet her's and Todd's latest work don't seem to live up to her original works. If you haven't read the first Pern novels, I highly recommend it. The character development was far better back them, and the world was a brand new place to explore. Here in this book, I just couldn't really get into the characters. Perhaps there are just too many of them, and too many back stories to keep straight. Never the less, I will miss her..DragonSkies

5By PatmonychStarted reading with mixed feelings knowing it was the last, it is a fitting tribute to the founder of Pern and it's wonderful inhabitants, human and animal alike. Have every book and loved them all including this one. Thanks for a wonderful 40 years of giving us these wonderful riders,dragons, harpers and healers to love.
