Reviews
Spy Novel, or Political Propaganda ?
2By Six1SwedeI first read Silva’s later novels, and then decided to read the earlier ones, like this one. Silva definitely views his writing as a platform for political expression. In the later novels, Silva conveys a sense of shared responsibility for the Israeli/Arab conflict; not equally, of course, but suggesting that Israeli policies have worsened – not improved – the situation. And I find it interesting that in these earlier novels he portrays Israel as 100% blameless. Is this because the policies of the Israeli government were vastly different between the time of the early and later novels’ writings ? If you are looking for a spy novel, know that you’re going to get a whole lot of political propaganda when reading Silva - it’s not subtle. But he is a gifted and well-researched writer, even if he’s only a so-so crusader. The Fallen Angel
4By kellygirlrI normally don’t write reviews, I just leave star ratings, but I was compelled to do so because of a review that popped up when I was reading the plot for this book. The reader gave it one star and said the book lacked the excitement of the previous books in this series. I quite disagree. It had its exciting moments and expected cliffhangers, but there were also many Machiavellian moments where you seriously get into the head of many of the players, as well as learn a little history. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of five is that it was much shorter than most. Still, the pages pack quite a punch and deliver all you could ask of a Daniel Silva Gabriel Allon novel with the exception of length. I have read all the novels as they came out but this time I’ve starting at the beginning and am reading them all back to back.Fallen Angel

3By coonskin #1A good pot boiler , not great. The locals and background kept it interesting but the characters didn't spring to life. There were hints to a richer backstory but not truly developed. An intensely Truthful book
4By David BergslandYes, I know it is fiction. But it is excellent Jewish fiction. I pray Daniel comes to know personally the God so casually dismissed by Gabriel. This is a superb book. The Fallen Angel
4By IL Family GuyThis is my first Silva book. As a lot of the good thrillers, a little hard to follow at times. I loved the history and connection to the current political climate. Looking forward to another Silva book.Average compared to His previous work
3By HashoosIt appears this one was rushed, i did not enjoy it as much as i anticipated. the plot and sequence of events is OK, the bias is obvious, and was dissappointed after ready 2/3 of the book, i knew that the thrilling ends we're used to will not be part of this book.Classic Silva
4By mhegarveyFallen Angel is typical Silva. If you liked his last several novels you will like this one as well. The climax is a little abrupt and short-lived, but per Silva's style, trends towards being more realistic than "Hollywood." Great historical context within the setting of the finale. Good read. The fallen angel
5By BoldearAs a catholic, i appreciate his description of the Vatican and its inner workings. As a human being, I cannot feel but sadness at the misguided Muslim belief system. So out of touch with reality. It will end in disaster. The world will suffer greatly as well as our Jewish friends.Great read!
5By Claud909I got the sample book and got hooked. The suspense was maintained until the end and it was a very entertaining and easy read. The story was well put together and I enjoyed how the story continued to evolve as the pages turned. Just when you thought a story was coming to an end it compounded and got you hooked again to see what happens next.Fallen Angel Soars
5By CeltpopWell another great book and it was a real page turner. I read it on a plane and between flights. I could not to,wait for the flight attendant to say we reached the right altitude so I could turn on my I-pad. All the characters melded so well together that it made the plot just click. The story line has a lot of new items in it that are current today and worked well in the plot. You can feel the affection Allon has for his new wife, his deceased child, his sick wife, his team and his old friend who is now the "Office" chief. It also allows Allon to become more, aware of his love for his homeland. The action is a tad slower in past books, but, Silvas writing of Allons new closer relationship with the Pope and the investigation process made up for the lack of BIG action like in the last book. Yet when there was action is was really well done and the real Allon came back and still had it. I would recommend this book to anyone for a quick and fun read. Well done!Daniel Silva, the truly gifted
5By NsatxEvery time I begin reading his latest work, I have a small fraction of doubt that it could stand up with his great novels of the past. Said doubt quickly vanished as I began reading this masterpiece. Twists and turns abound. Action-packed and emotional. This could be his best yet. Disappointment averted. Elation embraced.Outstanding, again.
5By MaximumBob62You never know where Daniel Silva will take you, but it took me only about 30 pages to once again become totally enthralled with this latest offering. The end could be just a bit more redemptive, but the journey is superb. Once again, outstanding effort from Mr Silva.Hard to imagine
5By Family doc in MAIt is hard to imagine how this gifted writer keeps getting better! This may be his finest yet, and so we will continue to eagerly await the next Gabriel Allon.... for the duration of the tale, you allow me the blessing of not remembering all that still needs to be done for my demented patients, some of whom, a few, still remember the Holocaust, in a terribly personal nightmare... ec mdFallen Angel
2By silver swanThis is the second Silva book I did not finish. I wish Silva would write about the Holocaust.Brillant
5By Dan ParkeGabriel Allon books are so good I intentionally read them slowly: I don't want them to end. They bring me much needed relaxation and enjoyment from my hectic work-filled life. THANK YOU Daniel Silva. Regards, Dan in SP BrazilOdd story telling
3By Wanderer52This is my first Silva novel and I found the plot line disjointed. He starts with a Dan Brown "Angels and Demons" Vatican setup that morphs into a C grade Tom Clancy anti terrorist riff. Odd build ups to action sequences and then skips the action(At the synagogue attack in Vienna for instance) It just seems off, like a draft needing an editor.
