The future of radiology education, and as previous reviewer stated, a paradigm shift is occurring. Dr. Baskin is a the forefront and this ebook is amazing. When your specialty is at the apex of computer technology, it is only fitting that something like this would come along.

The future of learning and teaching is in leveraging technology to bring facts and concepts to life. Dr Baskin gives us a unique experience on the ipad that is both enjoyable and intellectually stimulating. This is the perfect tool for residents and fellows as they approach their boards as well as radiologists preparing for their CAQ's. Practicing physicians will appreciate the detailed images and the corresponding pathology photos and slides. The intuitive nature and ease of use are remarkable. The program functions seamlessly in the ipad environment. A new standard for textbooks has been set.

I appreciated the movies. It's too bad you can't step through the CT slices...

Reading this iBook has changed the way I want to study as a radiology resident. I learn best from prose textbooks (as opposed to references with lists and bullet points) so this iBook immediately made sense to me. The text is written in a casual, "here's what you need to know" manner, and the content depth is perfect for residents and fellows. I love the format with the images immediately adjacent to the pertinent text, so you are not constantly flipping pages looking for the figure the text refers to. The images mimic your PACS workstation monitor with amazing image quality and the ability to zoom. And the cine clips are so helpful when one single slice image just doesn't get the point across. This book could be used as an introductory text, or at a more advanced level, a quick review before boards with the ability to quickly page through the images. I would absolutely recommend this iBook to anyone with an interest in pediatric imaging.
  • High-quality images and/or video clips correspond to every textual concept

According to the above description, this eBook "offer[s] an organized framework to learn radiology by focusing on a practical approach and using extensive illustrative examples, movie clips, and clinical photographs." Practical Pediatric Airway Imaging delivers that and more. Because of its unusual and cutting-edge format, high-quality images and/or video clips correspond to every textual concept, which is not something I've seen before in medical textbooks, primers, databases, or point-of-care reference materials. This eBook is incredibly readable, easy to navigate, and will also be helpful to clinicians and other physicians across multiple practice areas. For instance, I can imagine a pediatrician or emergency room physician showing a parent some of the relevant images from this eBook when a child has ingested a foreign body; the physician will not have to cover a bunch of unrelated and/or disturbing images in a larger reference book to explain to the parent the likely diagnosis and what to expect. Likewise, attending physicians can quickly pull up relevant images and differential diagnosis tables to use as teaching aids, as well as borrow questions from the interactive quizzes to pimp residents. Educational radiology texts are finally taking advantage of current (and future) technologies thanks to this series.

Excellent material in a very easy to use format that really takes advantage of the iPad. The picture quality is unbeatable and is much clearer than any textbook i've ever used. As a radiology fellow in his last year of training I wish something like this would have been available 5 years ago. I think it would be the perfect tool to use for learning at the viewbox, at home, and preparing for boards. I look for to the upcoming chapters!

First there were paper books, then searchable databases. Now we have the first truly interactive Pediatric Radiology educational book. The annotated graphics and movies nicely illustrated concepts that are difficult to appreciate from static images or prose descriptions. Most of all, this book is fun to read. I highly recommend this excellent, inexpensive book.

This is a world class pediatric radiology teaching platform unlike any other that I have encountered in my 23 years of pediatric radiology practice. Engaging interactive text, rich content, and outstanding image quality set a very high bar for future aspiring authors. Practicing general diagnostic and pediatric radiologists and residents in radiology and pediatrics will be rewarded by having this resource on their tablet.
