Description

#1 New York Times Best Seller!

"Eleanor & Park reminded me not just what it's like to be young and in love with a girl, but also what it's like to be young and in love with a book."-John Green, The New York Times Book Review

Bono met his wife in high school, Park says.
So did Jerry Lee Lewis, Eleanor answers.
I'm not kidding, he says.
You should be, she says, we're 16.
What about Romeo and Juliet?
Shallow, confused, then dead.

I love you, Park says.
Wherefore art thou, Eleanor answers.
I'm not kidding, he says.
You should be.
Set over the course of one school year in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits-smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you'll remember your own first love-and just how hard it pulled you under.

I read this book for the first time when I was a few years younger than Eleanor and Park. I loved it then and still can’t get enough of it now. This book is so sweet and so heartbreaking. Now in my 20s I am just as captivated by the book as I was the first time. This is one of the few books I’ve read again and again.

Honestly was a great book. I wish it would’ve been longer, it only took me a week to read :( And definitely wished for a different ending. If I could read it all over again I would

Sweet and thoughtful love story that is an easy, fun read.
  • Offensive to BIPOCs.

It describes a main character (half Korean and half white) in stereotypical terms which are offensive. The character never grows from this but rather hates everything to do with his Korean attributes (not his actual heritage because that would mean researching things). It’s very problematic in how it describes minor black characters as well. This is why we need “in their own voices” in publishing.

This book is very sad and that’s one of the reasons why i couldn’t put it down! I loved the ending of the book and the different backgrounds each character has, definitely read this book!

Eleanor & Park has been a favorite of mine since high school English class. I fell in love with the book and couldn’t help myself from reading ahead. I don’t normally review things, but this book is worth it. It’s cute, and witty. But also heartbreaking and gut wrenching at times. I so badly wished they would’ve wrote a sequel, but sometimes it’s best to leave things as they are. The book does use crude language so if you’re not into that sort of thing then I would steer clear of it.

I’m still not sure how I feel about this book. It captured young love perfectly and beautifully yet it was so sad. A book that just left me feeling depressed afterward.

I wish I could give this book six stars. This novel is so romantic and so interesting that I just couldn’t put it down. A great young adult book that everyone who likes John Green would also love.

This book was beautiful it was slow and steady nothing to bold or just censored it was just right I definitely recommend to other romance readers it was bitter sweet love it was the popular falling for the social bottom they were a perfect match and their love was so ooo but I was annoying to see how slow it was and cute and I also cried because I was jealous of their love for each other the end was really infuriating but interesting and if you are really emotional don’t read it because it was a lot and I have some what of a tear dam built into me and I almost never cry and I’m in middle school so yeah really good book a definite recommendation
