Fifth Grave Past the Light

Book 5, Charley's main case is solving a possible 20 year serial killer case. A lot of dead women ages 7 and up, all with the same M.O., showed up in her apartment at the same time. Based off clothing, she can tell they died in different year spans. Some side cases involve Charley investigating a cheating spouse, and she is still searching for the arsonist from book 4. This time she has as an inkling who the arsonist is and turning that person in could be tricky. No matter how small a case is, they do seem to have a big impact in the story. Just a hint, I was biting my nails by the end of the book because of one of these smaller cases. A new side character was introduced in book 4. I wasn't sure he would continue on and I'm happy to say he made an appearance in this book as well. Quinton is the deaf boy who was possessed by a demon to get to Charley in the previous book. After freeing him from that possession, what we learn about him just makes you fall in love with him and I love that he is continuing on with the series. A new side character was introduced and her story is fascinating. I think she is going to add a lot to this series depending on if the author really utilizes her special talent. I'm hoping she does. We got a few more pieces to the puzzle that is Charley. Some new abilities and more to her and Reyes story. We finally got to see some real movement to their relationship. Fingers crossed it keeps heading the way it is. A prediction was revealed that has me truly nervous. I'm absolutely loving this series. it's highly entertaining with some great side characters. Charley is so funny and her interactions with Cookie really had me laughing in this book. On to book six! OVERALL SERIES DESCRIPTION: Heroine, Charley Davidson, Private Investigator and Grim Reaper. She's a portal for the dead to pass through to heaven. Hero, Reyes Alexander Farrow, Son of Satan and portal to Hell. Since Charley can see and talk to the dead, she has helped her former cop father and current cop uncle solve cases. The main focus in each book are the cases Charley solves with the help of her best friend Cookie, her uncle and the dead victims. The side focus is the romance between Charley and Reyes and the impending war with the demons that is predicted.

Loved this 5th book of the Charley and Reyes saga! Darynda Jones turns up the heat as Charley gets to know more about Reyes and his newly remodeled apartment! Charley learns more about herself too and she solves case after case.

Another hot read from Darynda Jones. Love this series, can't wait till the next one is out. Price is a little high for an ebook though, and the next one is $5 more than this one :(

Ms. Jones has managed to do something I thought impossible... She just nudged Kim Harrison out of my #1 favorite author spot by a smidgen. Funny, interesting, romantic, tons of action, but most of all with all the sci-fi/fantasy/ mystery components, it manages to make you laugh out loud. I wouldn't miss one of her books for anything, and now my mom and friends are hooked too. I only wish they were longer! Can't wait to get my hands on the next one. I don't know why she doesn't get the recognition she deserves. I found her books originally hidden in the one small section labeled "mystery" on the bottom shelf, with only one copy of each of the three that had been published. Her agent/publicist needs to get her books out there, so more people can fall in love with Charlie & Reyes!

Better have a few dozen more of these in the works!!!!!! Love them and can't wait to read the 6th........

I truly love this author , she is funny and she puts some of real life into her stories...and she really knows how to paint a picture of the story she wrote ....I wish she could write more novels in the year. I love the Charlie Davidson series.

Intrigue just doesn't get any better than this! I started with book one and kept going until book five in this fantastic series. These are the kind of books you have to force yourself to put down so you can savor some reading for the next day. I absolutely love the main character, Charley, and her sidekicks. LOL funny with actual plots that twist there way through entertaining dialog. Hurry up with book six, I need a fix, as much as Charley needs her fix of java!

Great surprise ending. I like sticky notes as well so it is way cool to end with one. I love the turn of phrases ms jones uses. Keeps me laughing and anticipating each new page, chapter, and. Book. I can't wait for the next one! Cindy C.
