The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
By Mark Twain
In the 1840s, a mischievous boy named Tom Sawyer lives with his Aunt Polly and his half-brother, Sid, in the fictional Mississippi River town of St. Petersburg, Missouri. After playing hooky from school on Friday and dirtying his clothes in a fight, Tom is made to whitewash the fence as punishment all of the next day. At first, Tom is disheartened by having to forfeit his day off. However, he soon cleverly persuades his friends to trade him small treasures for the privilege of doing his work. He trades the treasures he got by tricking his friends into whitewashing the fence for tickets given out in Sunday school for memorizing Bible verses, which can be used to claim a Bible as a prize. He received enough tickets to be given the Bible. However, in response to a question to show off his knowledge, he incorrectly answers that the first disciples were David and Goliath.<br>

Pretty good, just one thing4By GfyftgrugtI absolutely loved reading this book. Such a great story! I definitely recommend it to everyone. The reason I rated this specific book 4 stars is because, three chapters toward the end are repeated and are the exact same and three chapters a bit earlier in the book, and in the space that the three chapters were repeated, it also skipped three chapters! I had to get out my real book to do that part of the reading. Otherwise, this is a great exact replica of the original Tom Sawyer. Happy reading!

Edoardo Takacs on The Adventures of Tom Sawyer5By edoardo takacsIt was an amazing read. One of the best I’ve read.
Bad copy1By atpersonalAt around chapter 25, this copy of the book jumps back to a much earlier part of the story for a couple of before going back for the conclusion skipping chunks along the way.
