3By Indie.MThis was a satisfying read and a good book to start with as I began reading again. Despite what other may written I think the book is well paced and if you pay attention to the details then you won’t think she all a sudden is in love with him. All in all the book was delightful with funny moments and warm-hearted. After he JUST went on a whole inner monologue about “being more patient” and “trying to understand her” like ummmmm…excuse me?????? AND THEN SHE FEELS BAD FOR HIM??????????? Listen. Listen. The writing style is SO good, but some of these decisions…ma’am the description says you wrote this in 2023? Are we SURE we thought that bit through enough? — Despite my sincere reservations, I did keep reading and finished this book. It wasn’t painful, but I agree with other reviewers who said that the plot felt VERY rushed and the characters’ personalities wishy-washy at best. Gabriel was a fine male lead in the end, despite his very poor choices early on. At no point did I feel like Magdalene was badly written—she just caused me a lot of secondhand embarrassment with her lunatic actions. The foreshadowing was very obvious, and everything played out pretty much exactly how I expected, which left me satisfied. If I could give this 3 1/2 stars I would, but I left it at 4 since I’m going to read the next book in the series.Nah
