**THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER**
“Alex Michaelides hits the trifecta with his third novel, The Fury. The highly original story presents the reader with the king of all unreliable narrators, enough twists and turns to power two novels, and a host of characters that bleed right on the page. ” —David Baldacci
A masterfully paced thriller about a reclusive ex–movie star and her famous friends whose spontaneous trip to a private Greek island is upended by a murder — from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Silent Patient
This is a tale of murder.
Or maybe that’s not quite true. At its heart, it’s a love story, isn’t it?
Lana Farrar is a reclusive ex–movie star and one of the most famous women in the world. Every year, she invites her closest friends to escape the English weather and spend Easter on her idyllic private Greek island.
I tell you this because you may think you know this story. You probably read about it at the time ― it caused a real stir in the tabloids, if you remember. It had all the necessary ingredients for a press sensation: a celebrity; a private island cut off by the wind…and a murder.
We found ourselves trapped there overnight. Our old friendships concealed hatred and a desire for revenge. What followed was a game of cat and mouse ― a battle of wits, full of twists and turns, building to an unforgettable climax. The night ended in violence and death, as one of us was found murdered.
But who am I?
My name is Elliot Chase, and I’m going to tell you a story unlike any you’ve ever heard.
Reviews
Insightful but confusing
3By SafaviehThere isn’t one character in this novel that I cared about in the end. Yet the author conveys, with heartbreaking clarity, the plight of this man child narrator. He owns up to his failings, so that helps, but he’s still deplorable. The structure is fine, the riff on an old noir movie is inspired. I’d have appreciated just one kind or decent character to leave me satisfied that I’d put in the time. I won’t compare this novel to the author’s original, game changing best seller because each book is its own gift.Slow burn, slower ending
3By Lena DejesusI typically love Alex Michaelides but this could have been 4 acts? Maybe 5 acts with less chapters and fluff? All in all though, this was a great read. Super interesting twists. The ending is what I expected but alot that I didn’t expect happened along the way as well. The Fury
1By GWYNEDD READERWould make an intriguing movie. Sad, pathetic characters.Another home run ⚾️
5By chewysmumTwists and turns until the very end. A thrilling read that goes by fast!Loved every page!
5By Snowcat_32This book was beautiful, tragic & eloquently written. It kept me wanting to turn the page. Each time I felt I knew what was happening- it flipped my perspective. Most of the characters were well written i.e. Elliot & Lana Definitely one of the better books I’ve read in a long time & would very much recommend.Fury
5By AsdfghklwedftThis is how I felt reading. An unreliable narrative that is in fact so reliable. I really did feel like I was in the bar listening to a story. You’re always missing something. So bad
1By cirbbycribbycribstercribI’m sorry to the author. But wow. I had to skip so much of the first person part and get to the actual story.Engaging start to finish
5By ErinEli28Very difficult to put down. I actually left a play at intermission to come home and read this because it was more interesting than the play. You won’t be disappointed. The Fury
3By olddue1Good murder mystery with a convoluted plot. It’s clever but unconvincing and left me sad.Loved the silent patient. This was ho-hum
3By Reader10234Never really bought into the story or the characters.
