Description

They knew it could happen - scientists had been warning them for years. Yet, nearly two million people living in the greater Seattle area went about their daily lives as usual. A Detective Agency thought they had found a missing woman, an upstart radio station was on the air, and an eccentric banker had just started a round of golf. Thousands were driving on freeways, shopping in malls, awaiting flights, working in downtown high-rises, and on buses in the bus tunnel.

They knew -- they just didn't believe it could happen to them.

What a terrific learning experience. Many years ago an acquaintance was a HAM operator but I always thought it was a "nice hobby" even though I know he listened to police and fire department transmissions. This was a very timely read after a 6.7 earthquake hit a small central Italian town last week. It brought the horror of this natural disaster home.

Meh. Nice wallowing in the wonderfulness of ham radio. But really, please learn to spell, to punctuate, to understand what constitutes a complete sentence. It is hard to get lost in your story when I see sloppy, sloppy grammar, spelling and typography. "Forth" is not the same as "fourth." And many many more very basic errors.

Excellent book! Couldn't put it down and read it in a day. I want to read more by this author!

The waiting, the emotions-they all seemed valid. Some of the story lines were wound up a little too neatly but it is a minor complaint. I recommend this book.
