She was the most beautiful woman Duke Hannish MacGreagor had ever seen. He loved her, he married her, and then he left Scotland and bought an American silver mine. This book, first in a series was absolutely amazing. All the characters were well portrayed and their descriptions took the reader right to that era. Yes, the author leaves the reader wanting more. Wonderful read!

We now move from the late dark ages and meet the MacGreagors in Victorian times in America. There are no clan wars, but we still meet good and bad people and see what trouble they create. Some romance as well. This crazy old Irishman likes Marti’s books well enough and read and enjoy the slightly different genre and vey different times and places. Marti, keep writing and I will keep reading.

After reading the first book of the Highlander series and liking it, when I saw the name of the author I didn't even bother reading the blurb, needless to say it was a big mistake. Thank God for iBook store free books, as it is I only wasted a couple minutes of my life that I'll never get back. I don't mean to be so harsh, this looks more like a rant than a review, but there is no helping it. First and foremost I couldn't bring myself to keep reading after the Duke got a call from his brother and explains his plan to Alistair, so I didn't finish it. The only reason I read till this point was my misguided hope that the book wouldn't be as predictable as I thought it was shaping to be. It was. Let's do a check list: Honorable wronged, handsome, titled and wealthy man... Check Dreadful, Callous, cheating, gold digging wife, soon to be ex-wife... Check Poor beautiful, fun, and loving maid soon to be future wife... check Now I have nothing against the Lord of the manor falling for the poor maid, But Sassy???? Really??? Of all the women a man like him could find that weren't interested in his money. He had to fall for the unschooled maid that as far as I could stomach to read had no ambition of learning and better herself. Really??? I'm at a lost for words, this book was as dreadful as the aforementioned gold digging soon to be ex-wife.

Lovely, sweet story, but maybe a few too many characters of which to keep track. However, the central characters were interesting, and you made me feel as if I was right there in the story as an observer. The book does need proofing & corrections. In addition to other corrections, which need to be made, two items of note are: 1. A couple of places the word 'relived' should have been 'relieved'. 2. The book to which you referred is 'Wuthering Heights', not 'Weathering Heights'. I would have given the book 5 stars if not for these errors. However, I will read this entire series. Thank you for introducing me to the McGreagor clan.
  • This is either just horribly written or horribly adapted to iBooks.

After a chapter (3) ended mid sentence I had to stop. There are so many spelling and grammatical errors that make it very hard to read. I can't get into the story when I'm so distracted by the poor editing.

A good read. Enjoyed the pace and story line. I would read any of her books again.

Worst book ever! If zero stars were allowed, that what it would have gotten. I wouldn't read this book ever again- even it was the last book in the world. Waste of time! And seriously, marrying a MAID??!!! That plot is soo old. Plus, WHO is your publisher? Let me introduce you to spellcheck, and commas, and periods!! Not to mention this book dragged, and dragged. I was bored to death! I made excuses of chores, just so I DIDNT have to read this book. Sorry, but I will never read anything by this author again.
