The Mystic Series Set: Books 1-3

B. C. Burgess is an amazing author, who dreamed up this heart warming and heart stopping story that I feel like I’ve waited my whole life for. I simply can not get enough of Layla and Quinn’s epic love story. Plus Ascension: Part One is going to be released June 24th, time to start a series reread and get hyped up for the next part of the story.

This started out so well. Interesting premise and good characters. But it completely takes a nosedive in #2 and you sit there thinking, “Well, maybe it’s just an effort to stretch the story”. Then #3 hits, and you just want to get to the action, you’ve come so far, you have to finish....right? WRONG. It’s torture. The relationship of the lead characters is exhausting. There is so much crying, then swooning, then crying, then regret, then swooning, then crying, then indecision, then swooning....meanwhile, you are HOPING AND PRAYING THAT THEY JUST FINISH, because now you have no choice, you have come too far to stop. But there is so much more useless, insipid, painful dialogue, you are shocked when you realize there are only 5 pages left. You skipped so much that you worry you missed the big battle...but no. You turn the page after you finish this sadistically vacuous offering and find that THERE. ARE. MORE. Don’t do it, friend...don’t get sucked in.

When I began this series, I couldn't put it down. It was fun, original and well told. Unfortunately, the further into the series I got, the more annoyed I got with Layla and Quin's "relationship." If you're into very controlling, domination/submission (beyond the bedroom) relationships, then you're in the right series. Eventually, I couldn't get past my distaste for Quin's domineering attitude that goes past concern, into control.

This is a unique wonderful series!

Great fantasy series well worth the price- I couldn’t put it down. Be prepared to purchase the rest of the series ;-)
