Description
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Red Rising hit the ground running and wasted no time becoming a sensation. Golden Son continues the stunning saga of Darrow, a rebel forged by tragedy, battling to lead his oppressed people to freedom.
NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY NPR, BUZZFEED, AND BOOKLIST • “Gripping . . . On virtually every level, this is a sequel that hates sequels—a perfect fit for a hero who already defies the tropes. [Grade:] A”—Entertainment Weekly
As a Red, Darrow grew up working the mines deep beneath the surface of Mars, enduring backbreaking labor while dreaming of the better future he was building for his descendants. But the Society he faithfully served was built on lies. Darrow’s kind have been betrayed and denied by their elitist masters, the Golds—and their only path to liberation is revolution. And so Darrow sacrifices himself in the name of the greater good for which Eo, his true love and inspiration, laid down her own life. He becomes a Gold, infiltrating their privileged realm so that he can destroy it from within.
A lamb among wolves in a cruel world, Darrow finds friendship, respect, and even love—but also the wrath of powerful rivals. To wage and win the war that will change humankind’s destiny, Darrow must confront the treachery arrayed against him, overcome his all-too-human desire for retribution—and strive not for violent revolt but a hopeful rebirth. Though the road ahead is fraught with danger and deceit, Darrow must choose to follow Eo’s principles of love and justice to free his people.
He must live for more.
Praise for Golden Son
“Stirring . . . Comparisons to The Hunger Games and Game of Thrones series are inevitable, for this tale has elements of both.”—Kirkus Reviews
“Brown writes layered, flawed characters . . . but plot is his most breathtaking strength. . . . Every action seems to flow into the next.”—NPR

Reviews
An escalation of violence and stakes unlike any I’ve seen
5By IzacM20The second installment of the Red Rising series proves Pierce’s talent. From page one I was hooked until the last.Awesome series!
5By lmfa83Just fantastic! The second book was even better than the first!I love this series
5By BtillmFire!!!!!Couldn’t stop
5By RochachaThough it borders on YA at times, it’s an easy read and isn’t overstuffed. I never felt bored, always pulled by the momentum of the situation. Another great read.Hate Reading
2By Financially LiterateI’m stuck reading this series because everyone says it’s good. But you can’t have multiple red weddings and expect me to be surprised every single time. A man conquers solar systems, yet the only struggle experienced is getting in the pants of a lover he can’t confess to. A series drowning in the dishonest narration of a first person character actively telling the story as it unfolds while leaving obviously not designed gaps as literary devices to rectify the atrocity of lacking any consistency whatsoever. I am hate reading this series, there’s no other way to put it. This book does not deserve praises. It must be studied, so you too can understand what a terrible fiction story looks like.Fantastic 4.5/5
4By Cbrenx23One of the best endings in any form of media. My only complaint is the pacing. It is great 85 percent of the time but that other 15 percent moves too fast where you kinda lose place of what’s going on. That fast pace works for scenes like the battles and that gala scene but it’s more important to drag on some scenes like the meeting with the sovereign, and fitchner. I felt that scene should’ve been slower pace to feel the weight. But never the less this is fantastic addition to the series and I love darrows progress with all his followers.Second book
5By HugebassSo good. Did not disappoint.Peak!!
5By Danimaul24I am in a state a shock! Fantastic book!What an ending!!
5By Sjohnson7I’m so glad I didn’t have to wait for the next book!On Par Sequel
4By HAJS29It is very rare that a sequel manages to maintain the quality and intrigue of its predecessor, but Golden Son lives up to Red Rising and some. No longer does Darrow learn in the institute, rather he applies what he learned to actual war now, not simulated, leaving you on the edge of your seat throughout. Not to mention, Pierce Brown introduces new characters that are just as memorable as those first introduced in Red Rising, with the inclusions of Victra and Ragnar a breath of fresh air. The ending gave me goosebumps as I am eager to learn what the future holds for The Reaper of Mars. Slowly but surely the Red Rising series is embedding itself as one of my favorites of all time, I highly recommend.Golden Ending
5By anagracemcdanielI kept asking myself how I thought this book would end. No matter how many times I asked I could not find an adequate answer. This is the best way this book could have ended. I’m going to go cry myself to sleep now.Excellent!
5By MandyJoJamesSpent the whole day reading this! Couldn’t put it down! Excellent second book, absolute masterclass!Good but not better
4By KfntnThe beginning and ends were great. The author got the portrayal of human emotions and I guess their thoughts perfectly. The ending was great and there was also plenty of plot twists and shakeups. Not 5 stars because it had to get boring in the middle but not without thought provoking action just none of the stuff I was interested in.Fog of War
5By PictedNon-stop action grips you as this ensemble cast of characters collide in an assymetric war of politics, vendettas, and personal agendas that violently takes a toll on all who participate. The book will have the reader hungrily devour page after page because every scene is a rubix cube that is solved in a unique way, leaving the reader hoping for the best and dreading the worst along with Darrow. One thing is for sure; like every character, you'd better be on your toes.Gorydamn Good
5By Nernemsaa.GTo express this book there are too many words. So I will say little to avoid the injustice of an unequal characterization.Another Breathtaking Thriller
5By Big bear #01From first page to last, you are beckoned to keep turning the pages. It isn’t until the very last page that you realize everything you knew about the story is just a starting point. A compelling sequel to red rising.Amazing
5By Vido.VidsWhat a read!!!Bloodydamn
5By notjaikI hate and love u that’s allpoor darrow
1By serotoninboiiauthors inexperience really shows in this one. not gonna lie red rising plot was full of holes but still really good. this one however was just bad. first darrow is unstoppable, until he isnt. then hes invincible again, oh wait just kidding. like its plot twists for the sake of plot twists. and mustang is just annoying tbh
