“All Quiet On the Western Front” was first published in the German newspaper Vissische Zeitung in the year 1928. After one year it was published in the book form.
In Nazi Germany the book was banned. Its sequel “The Road Back” was also burned and banned in Nazi Germany. For all that, the book was highly successful and more than 2.5 million copies of the book were sold. It was printed in twenty five languages in its first eighteen months in print.
