Description
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From the creator of the acclaimed Alex Delaware series comes a tour de force standalone novel that illustrates perfectly why “Jonathan Kellerman has justly earned his reputation as a master of the psychological thriller” (People). Includes bonus material!
A brilliant, deeply dedicated psychologist, Grace Blades has a gift for treating troubled souls and tormented psyches—perhaps because she bears her own invisible scars: Only five years old when she witnessed her parents’ deaths in a bloody murder-suicide, Grace took refuge in her fierce intellect and found comfort in the loving couple who adopted her. But even as an adult with an accomplished professional life, Grace still has a dark, secret side. When her two worlds shockingly converge, Grace’s harrowing past returns with a vengeance.
Both Grace and her newest patient are stunned when they recognize each other from a recent encounter. Haunted by his bleak past, mild-mannered Andrew Toner is desperate for Grace’s renowned therapeutic expertise and more than willing to ignore their connection. And while Grace is tempted to explore his case, which seems to eerily echo her grim early years, she refuses—a decision she regrets when a homicide detective appears on her doorstep.
An evil she thought she’d outrun has reared its head again, but Grace fears that a police inquiry will expose her double life. Launching her own personal investigation leads her to a murderously manipulative foe, one whose warped craving for power forces Grace back into the chaos and madness she’d long ago fled.

Not my favorite
2By kg48111Very hard to stay engaged. I had to keep jumping back to rereadThe Murderer's Daughter
5By GingerLilly12-5This is a great book. As always, Kellerman grabs you at the beginning and you just can not put this book down until you are finished!Poor Undeveloped Story
1By Pizza eater 47This was so awful where do I begin? Maybe this was intended for real estate developers or maybe the author was reminiscing about his younger life but his intention was surely not on the plot. There is no credible explanation for why Grace killed three people. The hunt for her never continued which would have been believable. This really made no sense. It felt like the book was brought together from two books; even the page numbering was odd. I see that there is a prequel. Perhaps this book should be rethought then rewritten. What a stinker. At least the author provided good character developmentJust not logical
2By Amigo73A totally irrational plot that just wasn't engaging. A disappointment from beginning to end. I'm a therapist, but I'll take off and pretend I'm a detective, oh and a martial arts specialist and a sharp shooter, vigilante, genius, murderer. The only believable bits were the detailed geographic references to LA's city streets. Yawn.Disappointing .....
3By Bkmms101Kelleman is my absolute favorite author- and I love how he generally "ties" up the story line well.... But this time he did not. I found the ending disappointing and though their was the "mystery in progress" throughout the book- not just the who but the why- it was not wrapped up that way. Felt very disappointed. Also- I found Grace the main character to be a bit annoying and obnoxious.Don't bother
2By UKFangirlThe book starts out strong with a storyline that draws you in, but the remainder of the book is filled with unnecessary details about Grace's life that could have been summed up in a much shorter fashion. The ending is very abrupt and left me wanting more, feeling as if I didn't really get the answers to the questions that I wanted. I give the book two stars only because I felt it could really have potential, but in the end it just came up short. Very disappointing.Really?
1By MiflalA hard read. Should get a refund for the time I spent trying to get through the book. What happened John?Bad
1By KatieanneberbarnJust really bad. Zero thought towards any resolution. The Murderer's Daughter
3By Gch2308I am sorry. This was just a really slow read. Far too much time spent by the main character on the internet researching the identities and locations of people she was seeking (together with unrealistically good success in locating everyone quickly). Some good descriptive writing, but too slow for my taste.Don't waste your money!
1By SK1122334A shockingly bad effort. It's like he got a teenager to write it and then put his name on it. Such a disappointment.Best yet.
5By Dgb65Different from past Kellerman novels, and easily his best yet. A character you will identify with and feel an emotional connection with, that's not happened to me in his previous work. Hope we see more in this vein.Great Read
5By cxlnt55Twisted psychological thriller - true Kellerman style with a view of the endless dark side of humanity and those left to survive and thrive.Awful!
1By RessuneStupid, unbelievable characters and plot. So sorry to have wasted my time and money on this book. Won't bother reading any future books by this author.Exciting
4By SSiErRa85The first few hundred pages were thrilling then it changes plot and ends bland. Overall a good read but wish it would have remained consistentThe Murderer's Daughter
3By SpoofingtonInteresting plot and well developed characters. A crummy ending made the overall story disappointingNot amazing but pretty good
3By chubschopsI really liked the main character but found the ending to be anti-climactic. Also, the author adds irrelevant details throughout the story that I found irritating and distracting. A little slow to start but I guess it was okay. The murderer's daughter
3By mimimalagieriDefinitely not as good as his Alex Delaware series but still kept me reading but very disappointed in the ending. Hoping it doesn't mean there's a sequel or the start of a new series. Sorry, usually really love Jonathan Kellerman.Somertime10
2By HermitreaderI originally liked how it kept changing between present and past, but the past story had no big reveal at the end, which was a big disappointment. Also, the ending was rushed. I felt like they just wanted to hurry up and end it. The book seemed like it was working up to this amazing ending and then it totally fell flat. The middle kind of dragged along as well. Even though this wasn't a good, I visualize it as a decent action movie.Dumb
1By PnuzziI keep giving him a shot, but I regret it each and every time!??!?😡
