Description

The New York Times bestselling author of Reaper’s Stand is back in her “uber-alpha rough world of MCs”* as one woman’s future is rocked by the man whose hardcore past could destroy her…

He never meant to hurt her.

Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.

Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.

Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

What I love about Joanna Wylde, is that all her characters are different. You are not rereading the same character in each book of the Reapers series. Painter and Mel story was their story. Painter finally get his act together, and Mel overcomes her fears and they have their HEA.. Love the series....

This series has never disappointed! Painter and Melanie's story was great. I really enjoyed the flow of this book. The letters while Painter was in prison were great. The build up of their relationship and the all that followed brought relief that they finally got together and angst as it fell apart. Painters dedication and determination to stay involved and then to take control and take back what was his was heartwarming and fist pumping with excitement especially when Melanie gave in to it. Really really enjoyed it.

Levi “Painter” Brooks joined the Reapers motorcycle club and finally found where he belongs in the world. His fellow members quickly became his brothers; he would do anything to protect the club. His undying loyalty got him thrown in prison for a crime committed while helping the club. Painter never had anyone or anything in his life that matter more to him then the acceptance of his brothers. That was until Melanie Tucker stepped into his world and turned it upside down. He became addicted to her innocence, he craved her, he tried to ignore her but his hunger for her was too strong. Melanie Tucker’s home life wasn’t great. Her mom just up and left her alone with a drunk of a father with no explanation. When she meets her friend Jessica and her Aunt London she finds a new home. She is then able to start a new life for herself. Mel never could have imagined the man of her dreams would come roaring into her life on a shiny motorcycle or that he would wreak havoc on her heart. I was excited finally, to get Painter and Melanie’s story. I was sure that he would annoy and frustrate me and that he did over and over. There were moments I wanted to kick Painter in the family jewels and moments I wanted to kiss him stupid. Melanie’s innocence in the beginning was irritating at times but I believe it was meant to be that way. The character needed to grow and evolved as the years went on having her heartbroken, becoming a single mother, and experiencing terrible tragedy without the comfort of her baby’s father. I love how she pulled herself up in the face of sorrow, became a nurse, and was able to support herself and her child. Painter surprised me at how much he ended up embracing fatherhood. Nothing was more important than the well being of his daughter. When Melanie brings Izzy as an infant to meet her father for the first time I could not stop the tears from falling onto my e-reader as I read the emotional scene. He spends years getting to know her and trying to build a relationship. While at the same time attempting to win Melanie’s heart back and finally claim the family he deserves to have. Melanie is scared and nervous to let Painter back in, she doesn’t believe Painter’s broken promises; she makes him work for it and why not he really messed up. When Painter and Melanie are together, the passion is electric. There are some great sensual sex scenes in this book that show cased their love for each other. The push and pull of their relationship took you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. They love each other so fiercely that it destroys them both for a while. I felt like they needed the time they spent apart to be better people and grow up so they could be good parents and better for each other. Their love for their daughter is what brings them together and it’s beautiful to read how this crazy family becomes whole. Joanna Wylde is at the top of my list of favorite authors. The Reaper’s MC Series is the best MC romance out there. All of the stories reel you in, grab you, and take you on a thrill ride on the back of a bike with the wind in your hair. There is an epilogue and a bonus epilogue I love Jo’s epilogues they always get to me. I highly recommend all her books.
