5By JLC+GKBAn intriguing mystery with a surprise ending, Kate Callaway, an FBI agent is assigned to work with Devin, who is obsessed with solving the death of his FBI partner. Devin has left the FBI disillusioned when the investigation is concluded without resolution. An arsonist is targeting buildings in San Francisco. Kate and Devin have to determine the pattern and then discover who the arsonist is before further lives are lost and buildings destroyed. Of course the Callaway family is intertwined throughout the story. The chemistry between Kate and Devin is hot, making this book a fun read. I finished it in about 4 hours since I could not put it down. Look forward to more Callaway books and hope the series continues for a long time.Tender is the night

5By LoveDachshundsBarbara Freethy is one of my favorite authors. I think I like her Callaway Family series the best. I always enjoy books about big families where it may be a little chaotic, but the family ties are strong. Each book in this series has been wonderful. I don't know if each new book is better than the last one or if I just enjoy the subsequent books more because they build on the characters we already know and like. Barbara's books always have some humor and enough suspense that I have a hard time putting them down. Her characters are good people with ethics, both in their personal lives and in work. Her books also have romance, but not too descriptive. I totally recommend this book, and look forward to the next book in the series.Tender Is The Night

5By AliciaanniebooI throughly enjoyed this Callaway book. This book features Kate an FBI agent, and Devin a former FBI agent turned PI. Kate has been sent to help Devin work an arson case from roughly eighteen months ago involving the death of his partner. Through the course of the investigation, Kate starts to get through Devin's walls, and Devin likes that Kate tells you how it is. Throughout, the book I was hooked with their interactions and trying to solve the case alongside them. Even if you had never read a Callaway book, you wouldn't be lost. 5By Mpomper514Absolutely loved this book! While being the first book I've read in the Callaway series (will quickly remedy that!!), I had no problems reading this as a stand alone book. Loved the interaction between Devin the disillusioned retired FBI agent and Kate the rookie FBI agent. Didn't take Devin long to realize how much he needs Kate not only to help with the arson case that has been his obsession for 18 months following the death of his partner, but someone who is breaking down the walls he has built up. Loved the Callaway family as well. Highly recommend.Devin and Kate will have you rooting for them from the start!

Our stubborn and snarky Kate was able to break down the walls Devin erected since childhood and built even higher since the tragic death of his FBI partner and best friend Sam. Kate had to convince Devin that she can help him solve the case that has eaten at him for the past 18 months, even though she is a new FBI Agen and in the end Devin realizes this is the best decision he has ever made. Kate uses her Callaway connections in the fire department and powers of persuasion for good. Just like her twin Mia, Kate has fallen and fallen hard. The suspense of the real arson is well written and the spark and connection between Devin and Kate is obvious from the start.Barbara Freethy's Tender Is The Night

The writing was captivating, with vivid description, thrills, chills with very unexpected twists making this a real page turner. The descriptions became solid scenes in my mind Making me feel a part of the story. The main characters are two bold, problem solving counterparts: Kate Callaway , FBI agent and Devin Scott, Private Investigator. They are well developed and pulled at your heartstrings, very realistic and very interesting characters sharing undeniable chemistry. They find themselves involved in an unpredictable plot The tension was thick with plenty of suspense, great chills, thrills with unexpected twists that kept the reader on the edge of the seat. I loved their interactions from distrust at the start, to them beginning to care for and trust one another, and finally to them falling in love This book is the 10th book in the Callaways Series but can be read as a stand alone. Great read!! Thank you to the author for this eBook. My opinion is my own.
