Once Gone (a Riley Paige Mystery—Book 1)
By Blake Pierce
“A masterpiece of thriller and mystery! The author did a magnificent job developing characters with a psychological side that is so well described that we feel inside their minds, follow their fears and cheer for their success. The plot is very intelligent and will keep you entertained throughout the book. Full of twists, this book will keep you awake until the turn of the last page.”
--Books and Movie Reviews, Roberto Mattos (re Once Gone)
Women are turning up dead in the rural outskirts of Phoenix, killed in grotesque ways, and when the FBI is called in, they are stumped. A serial killer is out there, his frequency increasing, and they know there is only one agent who can crack this case: Special Agent Riley Paige.
Riley is on paid leave herself, recovering from her encounter with her last serial killer, and as fragile as she is, the FBI is reluctant to tap her brilliant mind. Yet Riley, needing to battle her own demons, comes on board, and her hunt leads her through the disturbing subculture of doll collectors, into the homes of broken families, and into the darkest canals of the killer’s mind. As Riley peels back the layers, she realizes she is up against a killer more twisted than she could have imagined, and in a frantic race against time, Riley is pushed to her limit, her job on the line, her own family in danger, and her fragile psyche collapsing.
Yet once Riley Paige takes on a case, she will not quit. It obsesses her, leading her to the darkest corners of her own mind, blurring the lines between hunter and hunted. After a series of unexpected twists, her instincts lead her to a shocking climax that even Riley could not have imagined.
A dark psychological thriller with heart-pounding suspense, ONCE GONE marks the debut of a riveting new series—and a beloved new character—that will leave you turning pages late into the night.
Book #2 in the Riley Paige series is also now available!
Once Gone4By wonttakelessWith her unique gift to probe into the mind of a serial murderer, a black female rookie detective attempts to profile and logically predict his next moves. Her remarkable sleuthing prowess dwarfs her clueless, dimwit of a partner’s professional ability, a white male with more years of experience in the homicide department. This matter will definitely raise many a reader’s eyebrows, although one may argue otherwise.

I’m writing my first review ever, it was that good5By Gracie_ReadsI’ve never written a review before but this book was so good I felt obligated. I love crime thrillers in general, but this book topped the list. The character dynamics felt natural and the action genuinely had my heart pounding. I didn’t even hesitate before buying the next one after reading the first in only a day. Do yourself a favor if you like the genre and read this book!
Your novel is way to enjoy my life5By granny Ginger (80)As an 80 year old woman, I live with more pain than I can live with without using a heavy type of little brown pill to lower my pain level to one I can live with. Pain(at least what I must daily cope with) takes away my interest in almost every thing Except this hurt. however at last., I have found a novelist, whose writing can compete with my.pain level, and hold my interest long enough To enjoy this book all the way through. A good book I enjoyed all the way to the end. THANK YOU SO MUCH for letting me have a reprieve from my pain and allowing me a few moments to enjoy life. Thank you, Granny Ginger
Nerve racking5By LCRT2009I could not put this book down. It kept you on pins and needles with a bit of the good old boy attitude

Engaging4By A_Royal_Queen24This was a pretty good book. I finished it in a few hours, so that says A LOT about how drawn in I was with the story. It would have gotten 5 stars but quite a few chapters felt rushed..as if the writer was trying not to go over a certain word count, but still making the attempt to tell the story. I’m about to download the 2nd book in the series, so you definitely have gained a fan in me.
Spooky but intriguing5By doctor bookVery good book. Was a bit scared at times but is absolutely worth the read. Loved it.
