5By former school nurseLoved this book! Pendergast is a wonderful character.....his brother and Constance are extremely interesting and mysterious, I do hope they will be back in future books!Sad it’s over 😢
5By Malgosia1943What can I say, I love the Pendergast series. I’m really thrilled that the authors brought back to life the brother of Special Agent Pendergast, Diogenes Pendergast, who is just too fascinating to despise. I am always glad to find myself in that strange Riverside mansion having jasmine tea with Constance and Aloysius. Not up to the standard
2By mpls_mikehThe first half of the book or so doesn't even have Pendergast really, it's a dry recitation of a cliched race. There are several uncharacteristic plot glitches where things don't fit together. For example - at one point the car is left at a specific location. Much later PEndergast returns - and the car has somehow mysteriously made its way back home. It’s location would have been key to his investigations. Very sloppy. The ending is also a letdown. Coming off of Crimson Shore this was quite a letdown.Finished with this series
1By Tiff9This book ends my desire to read any more Pendergast novels. I have read and loved every single one and have felt they really have had to stretch here to continue this story line that should be behind us. Plots are recycled at this point and this book spends way too much time recounting the past. They should really stick to introducing new and unique mysteries to solve, that is what we love about this series. Instead, they bring back his brother that should be dead. A volcano!! Really? I didn't even want to continue reading as soon as Diogenes entered the story. The ending leaves me quite angry as it is just ridiculous. I do not recommend this book.Another great read!
5By BobgobblinI absolutely hate the fact that I read so fast. Finished this in two days. Now I have to wait for however long for the next one to come out to find out what happens. I will say though it would of been interesting to see where Constance and Diogenes would of gone. Maybe the next one will include a little bit more of D’Agosta. What happened?!
1By MrAnderson1Really disappointed with this one. Have been a Pendergast fan since "Relic" but this one felt forced, contrived, and all over the place. The main premise of bringing back Diogenes is in a nutshell: silly. The guy was dead. Not only bring him back, but make him good now??! Rubbish.Excellent read
5By Lynneclaire1I loved it , I was sorry when it ended, can't wait for the next Pendergast novel. What a ride
5By SDWillWith the exception of a few errors in editing, this is a great addition the the P&C collection. Unpredictable and enlightening, it is every bit a mystery-thriller from beginning to end. What a ride...Baited breath
5By SnowraserOnly half way through and I feel the need to comment😊👍 Impossible to put down, once again. I hope the Pendergast series never end. And after finishing, I would also say I could hardly put the book down. An open ending leaves you wondering as well. 😳😉Man Up!
2By Pendergast-iteRead all Pendergast's. Ending strains credulity. Cats have 9 lives, not characters!
