Description

Sometimes it takes a sinner…

Nicole Taylor has been fighting to get on the right side of the tracks all her life, but never as hard as the last two years. Finally free from an abusive relationship, her focus is on looking forward. Her first step in that direction? A quick get-away to immerse herself in her photography--and a steamy encounter with a gorgeous green-eyed stranger.

To love a saint…

As a forward for The Baltimore Banners, shooting fast and scoring often is just part of the game for Mathias "Mat" Herron. Off the ice is a different story and this off-season, he has a different goal in mind: do whatever it takes to rid himself of the asinine nickname he was recently given by some of his teammates. An encounter with a beautiful stranger helps him do just that.

And life to teach them both what's important…

When reality collides with fantasy, will passion be enough to see them through? Or will it take a shoot-out of another kind to show them what matters most?

I give this book 3.5 stars. This is the seventh book in the Baltimore Banners series. It is set in the off season so there are team players but no hockey games in the book. As with her other books, the action is hot and steamy. She did a good job with the storyline and development of the characters. While this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. Mat Herron decided he was going to turn over a new leaf. He was tired of being Saint Mat. While on a short trip to New Orleans with some teammates, he meets and beds Nichole. She leaves his hotel room before he wakes up the next morning. Even though he told himself he only wanted one night, he can't get her out of his head. All he knows is her first name and that she volunteers at a hospital in Baltimore. Nichole Taylor hasn't had an easy life. Two years after getting out of an abusive relationship, she rewards her efforts at improving her life and fresh start with a quick trip to New Orleans. That fresh start includes one very steamy night with a stranger (Mat). She goes back to Baltimore to continue her efforts to save up enough money to move out on her own and continue her passion for photography. Mat tracks her down as she is leaving the hospital one day and offers her a ride. Can Nichole overcome issues in her past and stop questioning and over thinking everything Mat does and says? Can Mat break through her defenses and get her to believe he is really interested in her? The author did a good job of giving depth, thoughts, emotions, and struggles to these characters. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
