Pained me to get through this book. Probably would’ve loved it when I was in college though, so if you’re 18-25 go for it!

Its poorly written in general but also offensive to the LGBT community, specifically the trans community.

If you’re a teen or young adult you might find the story fun. If you’re an actual adult, do yourself a favor & skip it.

Note to author: Describing a character as a “trannie” is offensive. Rest is predictable and stereotypical. If you aren’t writing what you know then do some research before you try to write gay and (maybe transgender or maybe people in drag) characters.

If you’re rigid, upright, judgmental religious person it is not the book for you. But I loved it!! I especially liked the credit to the authors 2 friends.
  • Get ready for all the comedic romance in this book!

Get ready for all the comedic romance in this book! Lyla is probably the clumsiest person of all time, and she is just looking to do well at her new job. I couldn’t stop laughing (although totally relate to her) at all the different accidents and mishaps that she has. When she meets Amery, a baseball scout, the pair are definitely attracted to each other, but with Lyla being a hot mess express, it provides some comedic liberties to the budding relationship. After meeting Lyla, we start to see a change in Amery, as if meeting her has knocked him off his axis and has somewhat of a caveman moment where he is focused on being the guy that she deserves. While I thoroughly enjoyed Lyla, my favorite character might have been Gran Mill, because she is hilarious and everything I want to be when I get to that age. Overall, it was an enjoyable book and my first from this author. I’m interested to explore more of her titles. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
