Description

A young reporter and a socialite join forces to solve a thirty-year-old cold case in this gripping mystery from USA Today bestselling author Adrienne Giordano.

As a junior reporter ostracized by her coworkers and community in North Dakota, RaeLynn Demming has something to prove. A decades-old arson that killed over one hundred people on the island of La Paradisio might be her career-saving story, but she needs cooperation from Rose Trudeau, Hollywood socialite and survivor of the legendary Grande Hotel fire.

Rose understands loss. For thirty years, she's refused to discuss the Grande tragedy and still mourns her closest friend who perished in the blaze. Hungry for justice, Rose wants the arsonist and murderer caught. When RaeLynn shows up at Rose's estate begging for a scoop on the fire, Rose can't help but admire the young woman's determination and agrees to help.

The investigation takes the pair to La Paradisio, where the local police urge them to leave the sleuthing to the professionals. Friends and family members, too, warn them to stay clear of the case, or else.

Then the threats start.

Undaunted, the unlikely pair dig further into the Grande's sordid history. As determined as they are to find closure for Rose, they face an enemy just as willing to do whatever it takes to keep the Grande's secrets buried.

I recently downloaded my max allowed books for Kindle Unlimited, then received Into the Fire from Adrienne, which was an unexpected but awesome surprise when I finally went through my emails and came across this gem. I of course read Into the Fire first and now have no desire to crack into one of the ten books I was looking forward to reading. I am obsessed with wanting more of Rose and Rae, characters so well written that you just feel like you know them and want to be part of their lives. You don't feel like you’re reading a story but being part of the experience right along with the dynamic duo. Rae's struggle to be an above board and honest reporter despite the threats and hatred that came about from her last instigative article tries her luck with Rose Thrudeau, Hollywood elite and survivor of a massive hotel fire that killed 100 people and injured even more. Rose has never talked about that dreadful day since it happened 30 years ago but with the persistent Rae finally decides it's time. Rae's anniversary remembrance piece about Rose and the Grande quickly turns into investigation of the unsolved cold case of arson and total destruction of the Grande. Rose and Rae uncover money laundering, Hollywood affairs, former president scandals and of course murder. Threats from their past come bounding about making them targets and uncertain futures until this cold case it's solved.

Adrienne Giordano is spreading her wings like never before with her latest release INTO THE FIRE, and man did she soar! Her voice has always been strong and relatable in the romance and quirky mystery stories I've read by her over the years and that stands true in this book as well, but with an added level of an almost a journalistic quality. Her characters have heart and let it show through, but the detailed renditions of the crime scene, the aftermath and the investigation makes her reader feel like they've stepped back in time to physically be in the midst of the fire themselves. Her character development was great, the setting and follow through of this horrific fire was amazing and overall I couldn't have loved this story more. RaeLynn caught my attention from the first page when the depth of her yearning to tell this story came through instantly. She's upbeat and dedicated, but was sensitive and caring towards Rose's pain. I enjoyed her character. Rose was a spitfire and only made the reader wish we could have lived her life with her along the way. She was a joy to watch and my heart went out to her as secrets begin to unravel that change the past she lived. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves the solving of a cold case and unraveling of a powerful mystery.

What an interesting book! This is not a romance but rather a mystery and the evolving of a great friendship. Generations apart, Rae Lyn and Rose meet , become begrudging friends and decide they both need answers to a long ago event. Rae is a young journalist who has been fascinated by a tragic hotel fire from thirty years ago in a Seaside town. Rose is the widow of a well known Hollywood entertainment lawyer and they were “the happy couple” . At first Rae just wants an interview with Rose for a retrospective piece about the fire because Rose and her husband, Simon, were there at the time, and Rose had been on the cover of a magazine during that horror. Once the two women meet, a mystery about that hotel and that fire unveils and the reader is on quite a journey. I have loved almost all of this author’s books and think her stories are getting better and better. A highly recommended read.

I enjoyed this mystery and the pair of Rae and Rose. The two were so different but so good together. I felt bad for Rae for how her South Dakota town treated her after doing such a good job on a story. I loved that Rae didn’t give up in trying to talk to Rose about a fire in a hotel 30 years ago. The arsonist has still not been found. Rose lost her husband about a year ago. She is really big on honesty and trust. Rose has not faced what happened at that fire 30 years ago and it was breaking my heart when she went back to the site and relived those times. The two find about lies and secrets from the past. Some are almost too hard to come to terms with. If you like mysteries, you will love this book. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.
